Did a search on this but the only thread that popped up left the question unanswered. Took CS recently and feeling pretty bad about it thinking of the multitude of key things I forgot to do. Has anyone out there ever had any experience with failing CS and still matching successfully if all the other components of the residency application are fine? Or have had friends/classmates go through this sort of experience?

a lot of people say they feel like they failed and then they passed and did quite well.

However, I do know of a story of an individual who did well in step 1 and CK, but failed Step 2.

He ended up doing a Family Medicine residency in rural PA.

I do not know what his Step 1 and CK were, but I know the head of the general surgery department mentioned they rejected that candidate solely based on the fact he failed CS. They gave him an interview anyway just to see what kind of person he was. turns out he was basically not a people's person.
