just out of total curiosity. would a graduate of cornell-qatar be considered an img when applying for residencies, or would it be looked upon as equal as a us med grad. Would there be a good chance (assuming good board scores) that a cornell-qatar grad can get a residency at Cornell NY-Pres Hospital? In anesthesia possibly?

Just based on their class of '15 list, it seems as if IMGs have a pretty solid shot of getting a spot there.

I've been looking at their match list ever since I tried applying and most seem to get into the Columbia-Cornell Presbyterian system.

They took a student from the carribean????????

Likely an exception to the rule.

Checked back a couple years - a carib student was taken for class of 2011, 2013, and 2015... 2 of which are from SGU...

The gif was actually for sans2, while the note about the carib kids matching was towards you... I guess I could have said, no it isn't a fluke.

But seemingly, yes.. since those darned reject carib students are taking spots that should be reserved for US allo graduates only.

I myself dont have a problem at all with IMGS, as my gf is applying from a Polish med school to US residencies. But she was told that top programs generally dont take any IMG's so thats why I was surprised to see carribean IMG's at cornell for anesthesia.
