Cornell University in Qatar vs Australia Schools

I am a Canadian citizen who has been accepted into University of Sydney. I would eventually like to practice in the US so I will be writing the USMLE. I like the fact that Cornell Uni in Qatar is cheaper and closer to north american and europe and other middle eastern countries. I speak french and arabic. I am supposed to start in jan 2014 for medical school. I am wondering if I should try to apply to the University in Qatar for fall 2015, or should I just continue at Sydney University. I would be losing a year if I apply to the university in Qatar.

Can someone help give me some advice?

I think Australia is a nice place to live but Im just worried about the costs and isolation.

Which school would help me get a good residency or in the end does it matter since im an IMG anyway?
