Correcting a Professor

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
the correct choice is there my friend.

the atomic number of oxygen is 8 so it has 8 protons. Thus the rest of the mass is due to neutrons which equals 10.

Since it is 2-, there are 2 extra electrons which equals 10.

How many Protons does an oxygen have? an atom with 9 protons is Fluorine. Go email your instructor it will be hilarious

my bad I found it, thanks... but anyways how do you correct professor I found a mistake on pervious homework assignment.

Are you insane? Why would you want to correct your professor? Okay, if it is something that will change your grade from a B to an A or a D to a C you should but other than that, what is the point except to show that you are an insufferable twit?

If you have a legitimate question, that's one thing. Otherwise let it go.

I had a professor last year that got very behind in grading exams and ended up handing back the last two both after the final. I found a mistake in mine which was the difference between a 3.8 and a 3.9 in the class, and I actually went through the whole process of getting my transcript changed (we didnt get the tests back till after final grades were posted).

I felt dirty, but I needed it because calc kicked my ass that quarter.

This isn't necessarily a stupid question. One time, on a chem problem set, we had to draw the structure of a DNA molecule. As everyone knows, adenine and thymine each have two H-bonds and guanine and cytosine have 3 (hence why a strand of GCs is more stable than a strand of ATs). Very basic biology.

On the answer sheet, the TAs drew each of them as having three hydrogen bonds. It was embarassing, but I emailed the professor and told him that it was incorrect and provided a sourse.

That said, I would never go it unless it directly contradicted something I knew to be true.

...and in a thread about correcting others!

first time I've ever made that type. and a good first time it was. that said, it's embarassing that chemistry graduate students don't know the basic structure of DNA.

edited to add: "first time I've ever made that type". I'm going to leave that as is because it is far too hilarious to change.

Awesome. We all have off nights...

I have a week until school starts - I'm allowed to be braindead for at least that long.
