you are right!Where are you all getting these numbers?
Even if we find out at 12:00 AM on Dec 1st, there's still 8 full days in between now and then. Add in half of today and the likelihood that you'll see at 8 am or so on Dec 1st and that's more like 9 days.
Not that it even matters anyway...
This comment is kind of legendary.been drinking so much just to get through this month. i think by the time dec 1st get here i will be an alcoholic.
Well let's take a serious look here at how much time we truly have left.
Tomorrow is going to be busy because it's the day before Thanksgiving and a lot of people are traveling, making food, making plans etc so tomorrow doesn't count, then obviously Thursday doesn't count either. Friday will count, but only a half of a day because we are still "recovering" from thanksgiving and some people are traveling.
We are at a half day going into the weekend.
The weekend obviously doesn't count. Monday unfortunately does count so we are at 1.5 days. According to my calendar Tuesday starts a New Moon and let's be serious anything space related is awesome, so counting Tuesday would be pretty disrespectful to NASA and space in general. Wednesday is "national acceptance/rejection day eve" so you can't count that and I know schools like Marquette call that night, so that day doesn't count and then Thursday is December 1st.
It seems to me that we only have 1.5 days left you guys!

Where are you guys getting 7.5 days? My countdown app says 8 days and 5 hours
7.5 days = the remainder of today + 7 days (nov 30)
Open to close
haha love your analogyWell let's take a serious look here at how much time we truly have left.

That doesn't help me. That worsens everything. I have always been the one that plans every little thing and likes to "control" my future (by doing things in the present). Knowing that someone else decided MY fate, and I don't even know what the decision was, makes me anxious. It helps me cope knowing that most schools have already decided our fate by now.
I just want to drop by to say that this moment is a very exciting time for everyone.
some people will get in Dec 1st at their first choice, some at 2nd choice, some probably wait until Jan or Feb, some may be on waitlist. watever it is, its been a journey.
when you get in multiple schools, plz focus on the price of the school. almost all dental schools are good (as in they have sufficient patients in their clinic), you will become a good GP based on ur personal drive (ur personal drive will drive u to specialty residence at almost any school, no school where specialization is easy)
500k dental schools aren't an abnormality anymore but almost 1/3 dental schools reach this price. interest adds up, loan origination adds up, ull be surprised to see 40-50k interest at the end of four years on that debt.
so to ensure you have a good fulfilling life after hard work in dental school, pick the cheapest!!!!!!!!!! (and of course their clinic must have plenty of patients, cough at LECOM and some other schools for having patient pool problem)
Is the thread that has the times for notifications actually accurate?
2 or 3 of them that I interviewed at said times similar to what current students told me, but I can't speak for the rest.. I bet it'll be helpful but who knows anymore with this cycle.
edit: you were at Louisville right? Current D1 told me he went to bed disappointed on the 30th but woke up with an email from them around 7:30 which is what that list reported.
Yes! Why did he go to bed disappointed?
Am I the only one who doesn't 100% agree with this? Cost is an important factor to consider but so is going somewhere you'll be happy for 4 years. It might take longer to pay off the debt but we're going to be denstists, we won't be having to sleep on the streets or anything...personally I think I would be unhappy living in the town where my state school is located, obviously I don't have any acceptances yet but if I get into my state school and one of the private schools I loved I will strongly consider a private school. Just my $0.02.
350k doesn't leave you with much flexibility either.Cost should be a huge factor. Why pay 100k or more for the same degree at the end of the day. Dental school is going to be horrible wherever you go. Why do you think going to an oos private school would make you happier? Because you had a great time at the school on your one day visit? Let me tell you, ever new place will seem exciting at first, but with everything it will fade out. If you dont like your state school, you can move anywhere you want after finishing dental school. If you go to a 500k private dental school, you remove your flexibility on where you can live and what lifestyle you can afford. Think long term and tough it out for the next four years so you can lessen the burden for the next 20 by picking the cheapest option. My $.02.
Much better than being in the hole 500k350k doesn't leave you with much flexibility either.

Would you pay 2k more for an iphone 7 over a s7 just because you an apple fan when they're basically the same phone? Why pay 150k more for the same degree at the end of the day?

Only a few schools come to mind that are ~500k (NYU/USC). I agree, the cost of attendance for those schools is ludicrous.Would you pay 2k more for an iphone 7 over a s7 just because you an apple fan when they're basically the same phone? Why pay 150k more for the same degree at the end of the day?
Including living expenses Temple is 343k (before the 2-3% increase per year) and Pitt is 331k (before the 2-3% increase per year). Under 350, but no where near the 200-250 mark.Just curious, what state schools are 350k? I thought most public schools were around 200-250k in state?

Yessir, including living expenses (http://dental.pitt.edu/2016-17-dmd-student-budgets). The financial aid advisor didn't include living expenses in her one-year breakdown during the presentation. Are you including living costs in that Pitt price? Because at my Pitt interview, the all inclusive cost for Pitt was quoted at 264k OOS
