Would it be completely crazy to add another school at this point in the game? I already have two acceptances, but I really want to go to school in NYC. I know that NYCOM is not in NYC, but Long Island is a helluva lot closer than Fort Lauderdale or Glendale, haha. Any thoughts about this? Is the school already pretty far along in its interviewing process? Do I have any real chance at this point, OOS? Thanks.

Its only like $50, and you don't have to pay for the secondary unless they invite for an interview.

True, but I looked on the interview invite thread and the last post was already for the end of November, which means I'll have to put a deposit on one of the other schools before I'd probably even interview (if I got an interview). And if I did get in there, then I'd have two pay two huge deposit fees, which I cannot afford. Damnit, why didn't I apply there originally? :'(

I don't think they've even started interviewing OOS applicants yet.

They take foreeeverrr it seems to me.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. I just called them and they said they're already giving out January interviews. So even if I were to hypothetically submit my application by Monday, by the time they get to it and decide if they want to give me an interview, it would probably be in February or March. If it wasn't so late, I would send in an app, but the more I think about it, the less I feel I should. I can't afford two deposits, and worse, if I don't get in, I wasted money flying there when I already have two acceptances. I wish I would have thought about this back in June... July... August... September... October.

Your MCAT is pretty kick a** . . . I think you would be OK for applying later in the game because you are competitive. DO IT! 🙂

Good Luck :luck:

Most schools save some spots for students with really good scores until March or April. Why? Because they don't want to be out of room when some really good applicants apply late. If your GPA and MCAT are above average, and you have the funds to spend, then it might be worth it.

def go for it if you want to go to NYCOM. they are a bit slow, just be aware. but its worth the wait if you want to stay in the NYC area, as many thrid year rotations are in the city, and the school is affiliated with a lot of city hospitals. (http://iris.nyit.edu/~nycomec/)

as for deposits, try to narrow down your two current acceptances to just one, and then you are only out of one deposit if accepted to NYCOM.

I'll pay your secondary fees if you let me have that NSU-COM acceptance!!

Just go for it ... you've really got nothing to loose!!!

That's what the cycle needs... A week where people can trade and sell acceptances. Fun fun!
