Hi everyone! This forum is so cool. You guys are great! Does anyone have any info. on Creighton's Distance PharmD pathway? Is it easier for students from rural communities of Nebraska to get in or do you think everyone has equal chance? Thinking about applying to that program, anything you know about the program outside of what is published on the website will be helpful. Thanks!

The distance program was originally created specifically to help with the need for pharmacists in rural Nebraska. With that said, though, we have no one in my Class of 2011 who is from rural Nebraska.

In my class they didn't seem to segregate. It seems that about half of us are from rural areas, while the other half from metro areas.

Creighton is a private school, so they have fewer obligations to cater to Nebraska students and even rural Nebraska. Both pathways draw from the entire nation, especially the web-pathway. You don't have to deal with the Nebraska preference like you would at UNMC.

Are you a rural Nebraska resident? If so, have you considered the RHOP program at UNMC? I'm not sure what the process is for applying.

The application for the RHOP program is due December 1 of your senior year of high school . You can either choose to do your undergrad at Wayne State or Chadron State. Selected applicants have an interview in mid-February. If selected you are automatically in pharmacy school before you start undergrad (as long as you keep a 3.5). I would highly recommend high school students from rural NE (if there are any on here) to go for it as UNMC is going to change their curriculum soon and require 90 credits of undergrad and its getting much more competive. If anybody is considering RHOP message me as I just completed it at Wayne State.
Go skers

Thanks so much for your replies. I'm not in Nebraska. I'm actually a nontraditional applicant (maybe- still thinking about it) from the Atlanta area. Just thought CU's programs was pretty unique. Drugdoc- how are liking the program so far? 👍

PM me - I was in your exact situation two years ago and was accepted to Creighton's program.
