How many of you used Crush vs First Aid?

Would you recommend supplementing either one with Secrets anyway?

Crush has a surprisingly small volume of material in it for as thick a book as it is. You could easily tear through it in a day or so. Whereas FA for Step II does a more comprehensive review of 3rd year by subject. I would recommend using FA for subjects you're weak on, but don't read it cover to cover unless you have lots of time. For me, the sections in FA on Peds/OB/Psych were excellent, but I didn't bother with the rest of the book.

I thought Crush/Secrets was just too simple and shallow to be worth much more than the occasional gimmie question. But you can read it so quick, you might as well.

Hi,

I have Crush Step II, First Aid for Step II CK, Boards and Wards and USMLE Step II Rapid Review...

I have not touched Crush or First Aid in quite some time. I find Rapid Review and Boards and Wards to be my 2 most useful texts. I was also informed that knowing Boards & Wards cold will certainly have you poised for a fantastic Step II score.

At any rate, All 4 of them together is a nice tandem, each book has different tidbits about each topic. I found First Aid to be the Jack of All Trades/ Master of none, where as Crush was Quick and to the point, with little elaboration.

As for the 2 I use the most, B&W is fantastic quick reference, and Rapid Review is a good supplement with a bit more in depth scopes. All 4 together I find that some have some things others do not and some have a lot of useless ****. I bought all 4, and used all 4, but have tailored it down to B&W and RR. Crush and FA are ok, but they are in between the tandem I am using right now.

Good Luck

Thank you for your advice sir. You are a great contributor to this forum.

Personally, I would go with whatever you can read twice. I did B&W once and USMLE Step 2 Secrets twice along with tons of USMLE World questions.
My scores were average but 26 points better than my below average step 1. Just my 2 cents.
