Any tips for calming down before CS? I'm taking it tomorrow and I feel like my nerves are going to get the best of me

Always knock on the door.

Always address them by their name.....i.e Mr____ or Mrs____.

Always shake their hand,

Be as professional as possible.

Wash your hands before the exam.

Be more empathetic than normal.


You will do fine.

Random question...Do you wait for them to say, "Come in" after knocking? One of our in-house SP's yelled at a few of our students for not waiting for the okay to enter.

I honestly wouldn't be able to hear most people through a wooden door. So I don't even know exactly how that would work.

I normally knock...pause for a second and open the door. Nobody has ever said anything to me about it.

Well that sucked, lol. Felt like I missed something (be it questions to ask or PE maneuvers to do or things to write in the note... or some combination of these) on every encounter. But I definitely always said the patient's name, shook hands, introduced myself, tried to insert empathetic comments more than usual (though not sure I was very believable haha), gloved, draped, asked permission to do exam, etc. I'm glad it's over but I would hate to have to take that again! Here's to hoping I pass
