If you've applied to med school before, but decided that it wasn't for you...would that really look bad on the application and lower your chance of acceptance into dental school?

It could, really depends on the adcom reading your application and how they feel about it. It shouldn't stop you from applying and giving it a shot though. Lots of people change their minds down the road.

just dont put it in the application. how would they know? 🙂

Correct me if I am wrong, I remember AADSAS specifically asking if you have ever applied to professional school. Not being totally honest on your application is not a good road to go down. If you have alot of shadowing experience in the dental offices and know that dentistry is what you want to do, then you have nothing to worry about.

If I was the adcom, and you took mcats, applied to med, shadowed/volunteered in medical related fields....

and had no experience with dental or knew what the hell dentists do except how much they make, then I as an adcom member, would relish in the privledge of tossing your application to the trash...

Just cause your medical material doesn't instantly make you dental material....How's that for you?

So my advice, learn about what a dentist does and see if that can fit well with your perogative.
