Hi everyone,
I'd love to hear some advice on choosing residency programs while keeping in mind their cost. Could someone who is a current resident share how they approached looking at the cost of programs when applying? I'd also love to hear a practicing orthodontist's perspective on how loan repayment is after you have worked for a while and have a better understanding of your salary and your ability to pay back your loans.
Between residency programs that vary drastically in their cost, some cost 90-100k/year and others are paid. Some are in the middle range. Are programs that are as much as 100k/year worth the investment if they are good programs? After graduating and practicing for a while, what is your advice on approaching this decision? I don't want to shy away from a good program because of cost if it's worth the investment so I'd love to hear a resident or practicing orthodontist's perspective or advice.
Thank you in advance.
