Hello everyone!

I was accepted into both PCO and MCPHS this past week. They are both my top choices for optometry schools and I know they both have pros and cons. I wanted to reach out to any current students to get their opinions on these two schools (school life, personal life, likes, dislikes, board prep, etc) and how they decided on where to go. PCO gave me a short deadline, I've spoken to a few people, but would love to get extra input. I'd appreciate any help! Thank you in advance!

Hi! I'm currently a year First year student at PCO and have never regretted my decision. PCO is awesome because it goes for a more interdisciplinary approach since we are a part of Salus University. So, you are surrounded by other graduate degrees like PA, OT, SLP, PT, etc. We are traditionally exposed to the clinic as early as the first week (but pushed back for me because of COVID). Although we aren't able to physically able to go into the clinic for safety, we are still exposed to it through the online server. Campus is very beautiful and it's awesome to be able to see how it changes through the seasons. The lab is very spacious and very up to date. I've never seen MCPHS but the facilities at PCO are definitely modern looking as opposed to other schools I interviewed at. The student organizations are very involved and welcoming and I felt like I was a part of something from the day I stepped on campus. The faculty is amazing and I've feel very supported. Also the COVID precautions have made me feel very safe and secure. Lastly, we are just a 15-20 min drive from the city, so its awesome to just unwind and explore. You can easily find something new to do nearby like hiking, finding a new restaurant, etc.
