My friend's going to be an undergrad at UCD and she's not sure which part of Davis she wants to live in. Here's some of the things she's looking for:

1. fairly new apartments
2. near stores like gas stations and supermarkets
3. fairly near the campus
4. one bedroom apartment for less than $1000
5. quiet area

Based on her research, West Davis is kind of far from campus and does not have too many stores, East Davis is far from campus and similarly does not have many stores, North Davis has two shopping areas (one with Safeway and one with Albertson's), and South Davis has a shopping area too. Some of her friends have told her that North Davis has a plethora of fairly new and affordable apartments, albeit a little noisy. What do you guys think? Also, when you were searching for a place to live, what resources did you use (e.g. davishousing booklet)?

LaSalle, Chataqua, Casitas, Fountain Circle, Almond wood, Temescal, and Chaparral are all apt complexes that are in North Davis. It has one of the best bus lines to get to school (G-Line). There's a Chevron, Shell and a Market place with restaurants like Chinese, Italian, and Mexican that is in walking distance from these apts which makes it very convient. I know because I actually lived in LaSalle and Chaparral. I think all these apts are under tandem properties so do a search for this I am pretty sure you'll find the specs for the apts. I would really recommend living in North Davis. Yes, davishousing is a good place to find out about these apts as well. Good Luck 😀

I'd say go with North Davis for what she's looking for. Some of the complexes in South Davis are also new and near shopping, but some of them can be loud from what I've heard from people who lived there. I'd also recommend some of the Tandem Properties complexes. Check in with them frequently because most of them filled in the spring for studios and one-bedrooms, but stuff opens up if people change their plans during the summer. I know my roommate looked at a 1-bedroom and a studio at Chattaqua last week that had just opened up. Goodluck.
