KCU.
Whys it so one sided? Just based on board scores?

They are established, and have a very long history. There's no mandatory attendance or dress code either.
Plus, they were able to match a student into Mayo.

I actually think CUSOM is a good school overall. The mandatory attendance is a huge turn off for me though. KCU also has great access to the other local MD schools and always places some grads in their programs, including the competitive fields. I just can't see CUSOM placing someone in IM or anything surgical at Duke or UNC.
KCU by a landslide.

Why not? Its the same reason for any older and established school.
KCUMB. Don't get me wrong-- I loved my Campbell interview but yeah the attendance policy alongside the relative new status of Campbell in comparison to KCUMB leads most to choose KCUMB.
Plus, who doesn't love KC?

Hi Julius,
I was in your shoes a few years ago and ultimately chose to be part of the first class at CUSOM. Had a hard time turning down kcumb but found cusom to offer me the more personal connection I was looking for and the community and institution of Campbell University hasn't disappointed. The other thing for me was wanting to stay in NC or at least the region long term and CU has a great reputation regionally, which is a cultural perk that out of region graduates won't benefit from. NC isn't Deep South but connections do still seem to matter here

Well, do you like wet barbecue, or dry?
Anyone that has gone to either school or have any advice on deciding on which school would be best to go to please give me some input! Really appreciate it.

What's up with that vinegary stuff they call BBQ sauce in NC? I mean it's not like it's not tasty but to call it BBQ sauce is a pretty far stretch...

It's clear you have an issue with me seeing as all you have done in multiple threads is quote me trying to troll me. Keep it up, it really contributes to the threads and raises your credibility

Raising my credibility is of my utmost concern moderator anatomygrey12

nah bro im sweet
On a related note, why are there sooo many KCU vs. threads popping up lately? I thought KCU was de facto one of the better DO schools in the nation? Why is everyone so hesitant to say yes?

I feel like some people do it despite already knowing what SDN will say to kind of celebrate having multiple acceptances? Not sure. Which I don't mind.. I like reading through the vs. threads.
Some have them have been interesting discussions though (e.g. KCU vs. MSU, KCU vs. RVU.) And some of them have nuance involved too (money mattering/not mattering, locational preference with family, etc.)

KCU is one of the top DO schools for sure. I think a lot of people just like to have others on SDN say that KCU is better than X COM for reassurance!
anyone have a take on Rowan Vs KCU?

Yeah I don't know, especially when it's KCU against other schools that aren't really even close. Neuroticism I guess.

How would KCU vs OKSU stack up in your opinion?

I am biased, but I think the reasoning isn't: Basically I think the state schools are better than almost all of the private schools, except PCOM, because they have true home residency programs that actually heavily favor the home team (which PCOM also has). This is huge, especially with the merger happening and in the competitive specialties. Having the ability to make these connections early in medical school and also be able to network in your field of interest is a big perk, and can potentially get you a spot in your desired field. For example OKSU has gen surg, ortho, ENT, OBGYN, IM (and some fellowships but I don't know which ones will make the merger) just at OSU medical center, not to mention the other OB, EM, and ortho programs throughout the state. They all favor OSU students, and give preference to them. Essentially the same way these programs work at MD schools. Reports from current students is that all of these programs (except optho, which is why I didn't mention it) will pass the merger.
This is something even KCU just can't match. KCU is still a great school though, whose grads will be better positioned than grads from newer schools.

Agree. Between two DO private schools I'm sure kcu stands on it's on very well. But between KCU and any state DO I would pick the state DO. More research, more clinical depts and more faculty to mentor under.

Is PCOM region biased? I'm getting sick of all these strong DOs being east of the Mississippi...

Yes, and I think it's stronger than people give it credit for
