If they are truly disrespecting you and making you feel humiliated and uncomfortable, I think you should make a personal phone call to your RXSup and/or DM. Maybe even both separately. If they shrug you off and don't take you seriously, you could go straight to the RM and explain that you already tried reaching out to the RXSup but they did nothing. I know there are not many cases in which a pharmacist goes directly to the RM about a situation like this but I personally would, but only if the Sup was not taking it seriously.

What is the problem? Are you doing things correctly?

I am not saying you specifically but a lot of subpar students are now graduating from pharmacy school with zero work experience. This is what working in a pharmacy is like.

Fresh out of school, I interviewed at this independent pharmacy. I told the interviewer how I like to counsel and make sure every patient gets optimal care. She literally screamed at me, "this is not a pharmacy school!".

You better know your medications. You better dispense the right mediations. All the PK, mechanism of action you learned in school mean jack in retail.

The dean of my school was like you should have the chemical structure in your head of the medicine you are working with. I'm like lol you are old and out of it. As soon as the exam is over those structures are sent to hell.

That is the whole problem. Many of these faculty have never worked in a real pharmacy. They don't have any clue as to what is practical and what is not practical. So they teach and expect their students to know every bit of information...information that can easily be found using an app.

OP, don't take this as a shot to you. What BMB means is it's the subpar grads that get promoted to RXM right out of the chute. They tend more to the sociopathic end of the scale. I know what you're going thru. It sucks.

Not to be a jerk (and I really feel sorry to put him on the spot), but I looked at OP's previous threads and posts. This dude had bad grades in pharmacy school, and failed the NAPLEX twice!:nailbiting:

He also made a bunch of threads where he is sweating his nuts about getting a job. Me thinks this dude never worked in a pharmacy until he graduated pharmacy school. :nailbiting: Its obvious he didn't do any networking as a student.

One has to wonder if this is the endgame for all those pre-pharmers with subpar GPAs (and no real-world experience.)

I feel nervous for all these kids who have never worked a day in a pharmacy but have a "passion™" for it because "it is more than just filling drugs in a bottle"🙄 and "pharmacists will be important members of interdisciplinary patient care teams":heckyeah:

The pre-pharmers can call us realists "haters" but the real world has no place for their misplaced expectations.

Yeah, OP, what exactly do you mean by "disrepect"? Are you going to slow and being told to hurry up? Are you giving out false information or doing things incorrectly, so you boss has to go behind you and fix it? Is your boss calling you racial epithets behind the back to your technicians? Is your boss scheduling you nights and weekends? Only one of the above counts as disrespect. Give us some specifics so we can give you better advice on shaping up your own act, or on how to document actual, real disrepect.

all I see is 'my feelings are getting hurt.'

Call ethics hotline but be prepared for potential real nightmare.

You should look for another job.

And it seems that an increasing number of them have a sub-optimal command of the English language.

OP you started out strong with a fantastic title, but lost steam when your life story only consisted of a few sentences. Can you elaborate on the humiliation part?

OP, didn't you just start like 2 weeks ago? http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thr...-at-cvs-what-to-expect.1197079/#post-17696226

It seems a bit premature to escalate something to the DM, no? You said your store fills 250 scripts per day, that is very low volume so I can't imagine it being that stressful. I fill more than that by myself with no help.

Do you clear the queue when you work, or do you leave a huge mess at the end of your shift? Do you check the voicemails, answer phones, make the doctor calls, take care of the customers, etc? Or does everything turn red when you are there?

Oh muffin! Climb up here on my lap.

Hush little baby don't say a word. Larry's gonna buy you a mocking bird.
If that mocking bird don't sing, Larry's gonna make him write an action plan and attend meetings on his day off someplace far away.

I'm not saying this is what's going on, but I've known a lot of people who quit jobs right away because of weird issues they've created in their head. Usually the person just doesn't want to work or doesn't realize that working kind of sucks when you aren't used to it (new grads used to the student life), and starting a new job is always stressful until you learn the ropes.

Sounds like the case here. This isn't 2005 anymore. You gotta earn that 6 figure income.

Try applying to a mail order. All you have to do is match the pill in the bottle to a picture then press a button. Sometimes you might have to put a green sticker on a bottle that says "you have 0 refills". Your coworkers will complain about retail with you on your lunch break that you actually get.

Considering previous posts from the OP on his supposed difficulty in finding a job to begin with, I think its best s/he try to hang on to this one. Pretty sure mail order isn't going to want to hire someone who left their job/was fired after only 2 weeks.

OP, complaining about your boss after only 2 weeks on the job is a bad idea. Unless you can factually prove he is doing something illegal (even then I would do it anonymously), you need to just get used to working so you can keep your job. If you end up quitting/getting fire after only 2 weeks on the job, it will look very bad on your resume. But don't worry about your boss, I have no doubt your company will have you floating soon, and floating for a very, very long time.

Yep I'm overnight. The day staff leaves me about 10 pages (150), then have 9+ pages of auto fills (135 or so), then 1-2 pages or so of ER patients or people calling stuff in the early morning. My shift starts at 9p and I only have a tech until 10p. My store is about average in the district, other 24 hr stores have much more than me. That's CVS for you.

my store used to be like that too. here's the difference, your day time pharmacists are lazy bunch PLUS super slow. they intentionally leave 10 pages for you. they da/m well can leave you 4-5 pages, but they intentionally won't... phone call other stores in your district and you know the overnight pharmacists there don't come in to start the night with 10 pages!

How many do they leave for you now? What did you do to get them to be faster?

just as I thought, day and night are completely different, no way anyone can do more than 250 script in an normal 8 hours day shift by themself, at that volume, your ass would be at the register majority of the time instead of counting and verifying scripts

I'm overnight too... I highly doubt you are filling and finishing up to 22 pages per night. Stop exaggerating sht, no one will think less of you.

BS as well, from an overnighter. 10pgs of QP/QV (150Rxs) after midnight is usually only possible in an ideal environment...Sunday nights, snowstorms/roads closed, major holidays, etc. a Unless you have absolutely no bull**** work to do on top of it (filing narcs, controls, automation returns, 14 day RTS, truck, etc.) it's just not possible without say methamphetamine

To be fair to mentos, he said they leave him that much, not that he ends up doing all of it. He's in a perpetual overflow situation where the first thing he has to do at the start of a shift is triage---decide what is not going to get done. And us night guys know that will be the most important thing of all time whatever it is, if the day crew hates you.

District managers are usually jerks, though not always. Just remember that they're getting yelled at and disrespected just as much as you are and corporate pharmacy is just a chain of yelling, as with any corporate jobs. Don't take it too personally if someone doesn't like you; just roll your eyes and do your job and take their money. Good luck.

How did you not realize this. You are working for CVS. The worst company by far for pharmDs and some individuals literal idea of Hell. You signed the deal with the devil so you should be happy if they let you go. And yes. Complaining about little things and making drama like a little ----- will get you fired. You are getting paid 100k. There are people that literally perform unprotected oral sex 5 times a day on the street for a year that get paid less than that. Awe your feelings got hurt because someone was a meanie to you at work? Now you wanna cry to corporate? ProTip no one gives a ---- unless your PIC is physically abusing you. There are 10x new pharmD grads getting printed every year ready to take your place.

I think the issue was he first stated he can do more than 250 scripts by himself while giving op advice, when questioned, he mentions its overnight but has 22 pages... implying he's some sort of super human lol

that was pure comedic gold. Thank you for the chuckle sir. You should go into comedy!
Sad, but pharmacy schools are pushing this hard. I have yet to see this kind of thing happen outside of an academic medical center. It seems like pharmacy schools and orgs are pushing for this hard.

The Pharmacist's Role on the Patient Care Team
Gear up! Patient care is a team sport
etc. just google it!

If you didn't know, I was being a smart-@$$ about it. I've worked as a hospital pharm tech for years. I highly doubt it will take on as much as the schools hope it will be.

I do 17 pages qp/qv and file them every overnight I work. I do have a scriptpro which is a huge help and wouldn't get it anywhere near done without it.

Do you mean 17 pages qt/qp? 17 pages of pure qp is just ridiculous. The official CVS policy is they expect you to be able to fill 16 qp per night (even that is a huge amount), anything above that and they don't expect you to refill the robot and do other duties. I get about 4-6 pages of qt and 9-10 pages of qp to start out after mid-night. After I take care of qt, it turnys into 10-11 pages of pure qp... I'm thinking that's more inline with what you are doing...

No. After addressing qt I have 16-17 pages of qp which I then produce check and file. With the help of the scriptpro. I also do robot maintenance, day 14 rts, and random other tasks. I do not have a drive thru and don't have much downtime but enough time to get it all done.

Where did you hear it's "official CVS policy" that 16 pages is the max expectation? That sounds totally made up.

I thought most retail chains were starting pharmacists off at ~$120k/year these days?

I heard that from my manager which was told to him by the sup.
I really have a hard time believing you can do 17 pages of ready fill + new rx drop offs/pick up + all other tasks from 12-8 unless ALL your med came out of the robot or you don't get any drop offs the whole night... Or you are just that much faster than all the night pharmacist I know. And I know I'm fast after comparing myself to pharmacist at both RA and CVS during both day and night shifts.

I hustle and move. I don't have many drop offs or pickups. Maybe about 10 throughout the 12-8 period. I have an 8 column scriptpro, so ~190 fast movers in there....so many do come out of the robot. About 6-7 of the 17 pages need to be pulled and filled, the rest typically come out of the script pro.

That 16 page thing is totally made up. CVS does not have an 'official policy' for how many pages an overnight pharmacist should produce. I'm sure what they meant was that that was your sups expectation.
