Acceptance into a summer research program is a total crapshoot. There is no way to really assess your competitiveness since there are so many programs that look for different things. Anecdotally speaking, there were people in my Amgen cohort last year with a 3.2 GPA and zero research experience.

+1 on total crapshoot. Better off finding a PI/lab on ur campus as plan B and having a more longitudinal research experience
I'm sure your UG has stipends/housing programs etc
