Hey Guys!! So I was planning to use a 10 week study schedule for my DAT and take the test around late July or early August of next year. This will be after my Junior year which is also the time I need to be completing my application! Now that I know the application opens on June 1st, I am wondering if taking the DAT in July will delay my application and lower my chances of getting in to dental school?? Thanks!

Try to take it by late June or early-mid July. It can take up to 2 weeks for your DAT scores to be uploaded, so that means if you take it in early August, you might not be completely finished with your application until the end of August which would affect your chances.

Also, applications are sent electronically to schools now as opposed to mailed in batches, which means schools get them faster and have been inviting people for interviews like a month earlier than in previous years. With that being said, it's preferable to have your application in when they conduct their initial review in the beginning of July. If you submit by the end of July/August, some schools will already have sent out a lot of interviews to candidates.
