Contrary to what SDN may lead you to believe, no one is going to be able to tell you what your chances are at any dental school based on a DAT score and two GPA numbers without any additional, qualifying information. And even with more information, it would be nothing more than speculation. Sorry. Personally, I wouldn't base a financial decision that will ultimately cost you $1000-2000+ based on what a few online posters have to say about your "stats".
This is probably the single most aggravating aspect of this website. The whole notion of 'stats' is absurd. There is so much more that goes into this process.
Where did you go to school? Is it a top ranked program? Is it a community college? Is it a less than competitive state school?
A GPA from school A means something completely different than a GPA from School B.
As a crude example, let's take the state of North Carolina for example: A 3.80 GPA from Western Carolina University means something completely different than a 3.80 GPA from Duke University. And I believe this is fairly obvious and intuitive.
You should be able to serve as your own judge on the weight of your GPA with regards to the competitiveness, or lack thereof, of your undergraduate program.
As far as the DAT - as other have suggested, some schools have cutoffs for scores. Sometimes these scoring minimums are posted online - sometimes you have to ask directly. Many schools have a target minimum of 18. Some are as low as 15. Some say they don't have any written standards. Some schools value the PAT greatly, others not as much. It just depends.
If money is not an issue then it certainly won't hurt to apply this cycle. You obviously have zero chance if you don't apply at all.
However, based on the timing alone, you have made things quite difficult. It's already November. You are quite late and just from a statistical standpoint, the odds are not in your favor. But anything can happen. Folks always get in late and folks always get in that apply late. It just depends.
As I said, no one is going to be able to offer you sound advice based off a GPA and DAT score.
Do what you think feels like the wise decision.
