Here are my NEW scores in the DAT:

PAT: 18
QR:18
RC: 16
BIO: 20
GC: 20
OC: 20
TS: 20
AA: 19

P.s. my post bacc gpa by the end of summer 1 is gonna pull up my combined post bacc and undergrad gpas to 3.02 BCP, 3.03 overall, and 3.09 science. My post bacc gpa by the end of summer 1 will be 3.82. So far in my midterm grades for the semester is 3 A's and 1 A-. That been said, by the end of the spring semester it will be 2.98. BUT, by end of summer 1, it will be at 3.02 BCP, 3.03 overall, and 3.09 science w/ +/-. But without +/- 3.10 bcp, 3.13 overall, and 3.20 science.

Do I have a chance in the following schools:

1. USC Herman Ostrow
2. Indiana
3. Marquette
4. ASDOH
5. MOSDOH
6. Western
7. VCU
8. Temple
9. Rutgers
10. UDM
11. MWU-IL
12. Tufts
13. BU
14. Creighton
15. Ohio State
16. Maryland

To be honest, I had similar DAT scores. 21 TS and 20 AA with a 16 in RC but I had a 3.5 gpa in both science and overall and I had a pretty hard time getting in. I applied to 15 schools many of them on your list, I got three interviews and waitlisted at all of them and then accepted later on to one. RC is one of the more important scores and I think it was the reason I didn't get more interviews and might be a reason you should take the DAT again.

what schools did u waitlisted?

What were the complete breakdown of scores from all your previous attempts? Trying to see if there's been improvement or if it's been about the same each time

No shot at high in-state schools like VCU, Temple, Rutgers, OSU, Maryland
slim chances at the rest.
GPA is too low. Should do a masters not a post-bacc
DAT is also low

Most of those schools where you’ll have a shot, like USC, ASDOH, and the Midwestern Twins, will leave you $600,000+ in debt. You good with that?

Big Hoss

Did u applied to UDM or IU? Btw did u waitlisted at MU, Touro and Western with a 16 RC?
UDM yes, IU I don't think so because they have low out of state acceptance. And yes with a 16 RC, but like I said, that was for sure what was holding me back but I didn't want to take it again.

What do u mean by leave me in debt?

It’s pretty self explanatory homie, unless you have parents paying or doing military or something (which is probably too competitive for your stats), you’re gonna be left in a ton of debt.

This is something you should think about before applying to dental school for sure. Go over the financials first, make sure to take into account accrued interest and everything.

This is so important, especially since he already did a post bacc program. There are a few students in my class that regret going to dental school because of the price tag. Too much stress and work only to be hammered by loans for 10+ years afterwards.

honestly if I were you I would consider retaking the dat. you have a great upward gpa trend but it doesn’t seem like your retake scores are much different from your old ones. Instead of dealing with the anxiety of being on the fence of getting into a lot of schools after investing money in applications, it may be worth it to push your scores up to at least a 20AA to get some security. just my opinion, best of luck!

my gpa currently is a 3.5.im just stuck on what I should do if I don’t get in this cycle, should I retake the DAT and do a Masters program? What are your thoughts

The low RC isn't favorable, from what I've read it's one of the highest valued sections of the DAT. The 16 QR is questionable at best; some schools auto reject if you score lower than a 17, but it's the least important section of the DAT so maybe (?) they'll let it slide. If that 3.5 is your sGPA definitely don't do a masters. You can get a 4.0 in a Masters program but your DAT will hold you back. I think you should spend your time/effort retaking the DAT and shooting for nothing less than an 18 on all of the sections. You will be far more competitive

what about my situation?

Sorry to break it for you, but with RC score of 16, it is not competitive. I wondered myself why RC scores mattered as a predental student. I can tell you after going four years of dental school, it is pretty important. You have to read hundreds of slides and retain information and the closest predictor whether you will survive in dental school is RC.

With your gpa/sgpa hovering right at 3.0 you're fighting an uphill battle. The people I've seen get in with a GPA in that range score 21+. I would say you have a chance for a couple interviews, but that rc will draw attention. It's good that your dat improved on the retake, they will notice that. How are your ec's? Meaningful volunteering? Work/volunteer as a dental assistant? Your gpa/dat are fairly set in stone now, if I were you I would improve ec's as much as possible and write a damn good PS

Edit: also, make sure your application is ready to be sent out the very first week of June. It takes longer than you think to acquire LOR's and to write a solid PS. Start talking to professors asap
