I hope someone can answer this question quick. I'm in the process of registering for the test. Can I change my list of schools prior to taking the test? Or is it finalized?

As far as the deadline for taking the DAT, anyone know when it is? I wanna make sure I have the chance to retake it if I need to.

Should I try to rush myself in taking the DAT so i can ensure that I do have a chance to retake the DAT? Or just wait till i'm fully ready and eliminate the chance of retaking it?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I've already registered to take the test in June, and I still havn't completely decided where I'm going to apply in May. You can call ADA and specify the places where your test scores will be sent at any time, even after you take the test (over a certain number, I think they charge you for each transcript). As far as when to take the test, I would recommend that you prepare till you feel you are ready. Don't rush it. Aim for June or July. That'll allow you to re-take it if you need to by October: way before the first offers go out. I wouldn't put it off till later than July, cause most schools start interviewing in August. If you give them some time to look over your application before August, you increase your chances of getting an early interview and a first-round acceptance on Dec 1. Good luck.

hey i agree with deebog01, im registered to take the test on june 30th so if i do bad i can retake it in october. that way i still have some extra time to study during summer break. the 5 schools that i have right now are BU, NYU, Tufts, Temple, UOP and i will be adding more later

For everyone who has not taken the DAT yet, I would advice studying as much as possible for the first time. You don't want to go into the test (as well as while studying for it) thinking "worst case is I can just take it again." Its a demanding test and one that people would not want to take more than once. When I was studying and took it, retaking the test never crossed my mind. My advice is to take it when you are ready. Don't take it earlier just so you can retake it. I postponed my test by a month (from june to july) because I was doing poorly on the practice tests. I basically studied 7days a week, 4-7 hours a day though June and the last week took practice tests everyday. The extra time was invaluable. Good luck to all

Thanks for the feedback. I know that one of you mentioned that October is the latest to take the DAT. Is this true?

As far as studying goes, I will go hardcore. I'm just trying to see all the options, before doing something late and stupid.

Thanks guys!!

You can only add schools to your list and can't take some away and add others in their place. The schools that you selected when you registered and paid for the DAT will be sent you scores. If you have changed your list then you will have to cough up some money to have your scores sent to the new ones.

this is good source of info ,

When you guys say latest to take it is in July (if you want to re take in October) ...you guys mean the beginning of July or the end of July ?

You have to wait a min. of 90 days before you can retake it. Therefore, if you take the test in early July, the next time you could take it again would be early October.
