Congrats kurlyque! It's nice to hear that folks are getting good news...
I'm a shell of a man. I actually got excited that someone else posted a haiku.
Sweet jesus.
I'm a shell of a woman. I actually posted a haiku in this thread.
<-- has been studying for boards. For almost a month. 1.5 weeks remaining. Kill me now. . .I can't take the pain. Or the terror.
Haha, isn't that uplifting, for a thread about getting in? 😛
Peering deeply for a silver lining, if you're waitlisted, you'll only have to wait on the waitlist for about two weeks. Score!she estimated that all applicants on hold would be given a final decision of waitlist, accept, or not accept in 3-4 weeks time.
I've got to vent a little. Am I the only person (especially you holdies) that is absolutely disgusted with the way this process with Davis continues to work out? I find myself in the last couple days, as I postpone all of the expensive things like flights and the like to my other acceptance, getting angrier and angrier. I've got my SO crying whenever I bring up the fact that I might have to give up on Davis before I hear back definitively from them. I've waited patiently and enthusiastically (of course at times slightly annoyed). I've sent the emails expressing my interest and gone out of my way to get prereqs done even though I am a non-trad and no other schools required them. I'm most definitely at the end of my rope and my patience might be all tapped out. It's at the point where if I wait and get it, its all terrific, but if I wait and don't get in, I'm an idiot for turning what should have been a 300 dollar flight into a 500 dollar one and having all the most convenient housing snatched up at the school that I attend... I really hope it all pays off for everyone. I don't know. If I was on a waitlist and if Davis had properly addressed all of the applicants already, it would be different. Being in this limbo is really crappy. It's all so unprofessional.
Yep, I am in a VERY similar situation as you two and I honestly try not to think about Davis very much because i am a patient and happy person, but the whole situation irks me to no end. It's really hard to believe how unprofessional Davis has been this whole admissions cycle. Like calcox, it really affects my SO as well. He and our dog are coming with me wherever I go and it has been really stressful for us and his job situation. The school I'm planning to attend starts in late July and at some point (SOON) we are going to have to give up on Davis. Hard to believe, considering I have been waiting since OCTOBER for good news (or any news now) from them. I know that this application process sucks in general and there are many things to complain about, but Davis has stood out among others as being completely inconsiderate. I normally hate to complain, but at this point I have many gripes about Davis. And so do the others around me who realize how manipulating this process can be.
There, that was my bitter moment of the day. Just wanted to say I really understand what you guys are saying. And I really hope it works out well for us (at Davis or elsewhere).

GODDAMN YOU DAVIS!!! DON'T YOU DARE STRESS OUT KBEAR'S DOG!!!!!
You guys are all awesome! I guess I want to put in my two cents into the whole uncertainty/frustration/annoyance experience. I totally agree that they are jerking us around. On the other hand, I felt pretty privelaged to be interviewed by them and I think that it should make us feel good. I'm only saying this because the uncertainty has been killing me for a while now, but today I reflected back on the whole process and decided that it was nice to be getting to the end of it (whoever was the silver lining guy...I agree, only 2-3 more weeks before we know). I know it totally sucks to not know where we are going...but it will all be over soon, and then we'll settle down into learning ten thousand billion little facts about the human body, make new friends, and be on our way to becoming doctors.
I'm so thankful for this little forum too. It's nice to vent 🙂
Congratulations. I think what is rubbing folks on the board a little raw is not the waiting that many of us are putting up with on waitlists, but waiting for a basic accepted/rejected/waitlist decision. Rolling in to mid-June without any kind of feedback, for folks who interviewed as far back as 8 months ago, is pretty frustrating.I got waitlisted 2 years ago and got in early July. If it is any comfort, I was told I was on the second half of the list and that my chances were slim.
I think that's a great idea once you're on a waitlist. For now, I think several folks were told not to bother with letters, as they probably wouldn't be read until primary decisions were made on applications. What worked for me, I think, was writing in update letters and showing my love for Davis.
I just withdrew from the eternal-hold list, good luck guys.
Sounds reasonable. When you're doing a cross country move, you need at least a few weeks to organize shipping, ship your stuff, fly cross country, find a place and set up house.i think i set my deadline for davis at 7/10. if i don't hear by then, i will extend my summer vacation and start shipping my "winter" boxes.
I signed a year lease in Vermont that starts in mid-July. I paid a $1K deposit that I'll have to kiss off if I don't find someone to take over the lease. You?Are you guys finding month-to-month leases? Or are you all planning on finding someone to fill them if you have to leave?

I'm doing the decidedly stupid hail-mary approach and not putting a deposit down on a place until Davis starts. That will give me 2 weeks to find a place and get across the country. I'm in a $hitty situation though; I already live in Sacramento...

I spoke to them as well and was told the same thing. Also, not that I have any new info, but I called Davis yesterday. I was told that the extra committee they added is meeting 2-3 times a week and that they are trying to get everyone decisions by the end of the month.
The woman I talked to said that they hoped to "get through" all the folks who haven't heard anything by end of month. I don't know if that was supposed to include folks who are on hold or not.everyone? like everyone everyone, including the holds? oh please let that be true. then it's only a 2 week wait.

Oh, man, this studying is KILLING me. I have to review anatomy today, because I've already forgotten pretty much everything that I studied way back in the beginning of my cram-a-thon! Four more days for me. . .hope you get your little piece of hell over with soon, and that it goes well for you. 🙂
Holdies and those waiting for a decision, I'm still thinking of you. Hope they give you an answer really soon.![]()
I wouldn't assume you're on hold until they've told you so. Lots of folks haven't even had their file go before committee yet.do you automatically assume you're on hold? Davis told me they haven't made a decision and haven't placed me on hold or on a waitlist or whatever.
I think they are slowly making it through those of us "on hold," I just got my rejection email. Good luck to those of you still waiting!!! Best wishes 🙂
Sorry to hear the news, Coral... Hope it's some consolation to not have to play the waiting game with them anymore...I think they are slowly making it through those of us "on hold," I just got my rejection email. Good luck to those of you still waiting!!! Best wishes 🙂

I'm very curious about how full the class is as well.Does anyone have any clue how full the class is and what chance the holdies might have at this point?? I also had them tell me that they are finishing up the April folks and we'd hopefully hear something in the next 2 weeks, but I forgot to ask about how the class is holding right now.
