hahah we must have posted at the same time. Glad you're in this with me, Calcox. My timeline is exactly the same as yours.
the same thoughts are crossing my mind too, calcox. and it really isn't because i'm not into davis anymore. it's for my sanity and for all of the deposits we've been putting down elsewhere. I am going to talk it over with my fam and SO tonight. i'll probably say yes, but I know exactly what you mean. It would also be great to know where we stand on the waitlist.
I got an email today placing me on the alternate list (although going from hold to alternate does not really seem like any difference). Anyone else get this??
I thought a person is only allowed to hold 1 acceptance after May 15??
Anyhow, I think the alternate list is pretty large. I interviewed mid-April, probably my worst possible interview but I was still put on the alternate list much to my surprise. I've been rejected for better performances. I went into illegal things and lame answers for how I've helped people and everything. Oh well.
Sorry to hear about your ex-coworker, Chess. That sucks. Puts things in perspective, doesn't it?jesus christ NDY, I'm glad you're still alive. Just last week I heard about an ex-coworker who had been murdered...it's a crazy world out there, and we can all be thankful at times like these.
Thanks, bud. Fingers crossed...I'm pulling for you and Davis NDY.
Yikes, sorry to hear the news, Calcox, kbear, tangledupinblue, et al. That's pretty crummy. Hope it leads to good things, though. Davis might find that since it's so late in the game, some folks have moved on to other pastures and they'll get more movement off the alternative list than they think?
Got robbed at gunpoint last night less than 50 yards from my house (which is in a very pleasant SF neighborhood), so a rejection from Davis this afternoon would be a really nice capper on the week.
I'm worried that a lot of folks will have bitter thoughts when they hear Davis down the road because of this app cycle.waitlisted, but declined it. hope it goes to someone else more excited about davis than me. at this point, frustration with their "process" was what sealed the deal for me.
I'm sure they're going to do or have done a lot of navel gazing about this cycle. I have to think it really had a lot to do with the move. I haven't heard of Davis or any other medical school cutting things so close to the wire before. I think next cycle's applicants will have a much easier go of it.I think that for the admissions department this cycle, it is a reputation well-earned. That's not to be mean, but sometimes its good to call a spade a spade. Hopefully when its all said and done, the department does a self-evaluation and makes changes for next cycle.
I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, most likely not, but Dr. Bera has declined the offer to continue to be the admissions director, so they're somewhere (most likely the very beginnings) of the process of reforming their admissions staff... hopefully next year will be a lot smoother with the move done and the staff set.
I'm on the alternate list too. good company i think =) what are our chances of getting in off this thing anyway?
Haven't they told you what part of the list you're on yet? The office won't give you an exact number, but will give you an idea if you are on top half or lower half. Terri is also nice about telling you about your chances so you can plan ahead.
Other than Ihateverbal and myself, are there any other of the March/April interview crowd who still haven't heard boo from Davis? Curious if they're still holding to the idea of getting word back by end of week.
Yeah, I just got off the phone with them. They said that a decision hasn't been reached yet (she couldn't tell if they'd met to discuss my app or not) and that they're hoping to have all decisions out by end of this week "or early next week".have you tried calling them? i am hoping you slipped through the cracks and they just forgot to notify you of your acceptance last week!
Hey! I just got a call from Terri saying I've been accepted. I was just waitlisted on Friday, so I have no idea how I'm already off, but I thought I'd pass it on to anyone reading this. Good luck to all!
As of today, the alternate list is not ranked. There will be an adcom meeting in the next weekish to place alternates into tiers. She said they will send an email about our status (1st, 2nd, 3rd tier) and how the alternate list is processed after that meeting.
i'm on the alternate list too. i feel like EVERYONE got put on it. geez thanks Davis...

Yeah, well, they'll definitely tell us yay/nay to the waitlist spot by July 6th. Anything earlier than that is pennies from heaven...Then there's those that absolutely have no decision...
I called and theres still no decision. 🙂
All waitlists move. The problem here is that the waitlist is only being generated six weeks after the May 15th cut-off, when most waitlist movement traditionally starts rocking 'n' rolling. Will the waitlist even move? It's already July almost.
You win...I think i might be the winner of people who haven't heard ANY decision yet...interviewed mid FEB. and I was told monday that my file hadn't been reviewed yet, but that it should be reviewed by the end of the week.
