Davis Tuition Most Likely Increasing

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I heard about this on the news this morning and am appalled! CA is having so many financial issues right now I can't honestly say I'm surprised though... I think they said it was going to be a 7% increase though for the UC system and 10% in the Cal State system (not like it makes a big difference).

Hey QTKitty. Your right on the 7% - that's for undergrad. The graduate fees are supposed to increase 7% to 10%. CSU just did 10% across the board. And yes, it is appalling, especially considering that the fees for vet school increased $10,000 from 2002 - 2005. Lord, only knows how much they will increase next year.

Oh and CSU fees have increased 94 percent since 2002. All while they are paying executives 100s of thousands of dollars and fighting with the faculty over giving them a pay increase. During that same period since 2002 the faculty got a 3.5% pay increase. The faculty are racking up 8 years worth of debt themselves (like us vet students) to make medicore pay - starting aroun 40k. It's just all so wrong.

Yeah, I've run into a lot of petitions and threats to strike both by faculty and students at my CSU school... sad day for California state schools

CA residents may as well pay private/ out of state tuition... Oh, and since when are schools responsible for the "mental health" of students? For some reason I have a hard time believing that this "crisis point" justifies the HUGE fee increase!

My mental health would be better served by a decrease in tuition... 😉

I'm all for complaining, but how many of us actually knew about this vote far enough ahead of time to write letters to our representatives, or make a visit to Sacramento? How many are willing to *not* enroll at Davis in the hopes that a drop in enrollment would bring tuition down for future classes?
