TMS-time! Or maybe peptides?

I agree that all of our treatments need to be a part of a broader program with therapy and we should attempt to de-escalate things when possible, but it's unclear to me that his problem is with a specific class of medications as much as it is the way medicine is practiced due to the realities of patient expectations and system pressures.

It's easier to fight a drug class though than the system.

well said.

removing SSRIs (or de-emphasizing them) will make things worse without comprehensive mental health care reform -- which is not going to happen

Yep. I'd love not to throw SSRIs at everything slightly resembling anxiety or depression, but people won't do therapy and insurance doesn't usually cover it that well anyway.

This is easy. Counter taking a patient off SSRIs (avoiding untold side effects that are impossible to causally link), with getting people off their phones, and getting them back with their friends, family, community, and God. The result will be the mental health reform leftists are always preaching about, but somehow manage to counteract through their attempts at destroying any semblance of community, and the nuclear family.

See? Easy.

Communities held together by rigid social expectations will always report lower levels of anything “abnormal” because being different will lead to ostracization and serious consequences. To this day my mom is convinced that there are no gay people in China and that it is a Western invention.
