Declining Interviews

I have no idea what to expect when it comes to applying for a prelim spot so I've applied to 10 at the moment.

Unfortunately, I'll probably only have the time and cash to interview at 5 at the most.

Is it considered a breach in etiquette to decline interviews? Or is this quite a common event?

It is common.

If you are no longer interested in a program, you may politely inform them that you are rescinding your application before they *possibly* invite you for an interview.

If you are invited and decide you cannot afford the trip or are no longer interested, you may also politely decline the offer and thank them for their consideration of your application.

Please don't just not show up...at every interview, there's always one person who does this. Its rude.
