So I had a job interview today, just some part time work for a little extra money while I'm in school. Anyways the interviewer (who is a dick btw) started grilling me for being pre-med and how non-science majors like myself have no place being doctors. I pretty much told him he was full of ****, well in a more polite manner lol. However this got me thinking and I'm wondering if me being a history major will adversely affect me.

BTW this was a part time weekend job at Lowe's and I'm getting all this crap from a 60 year old in a red vest lol

He's an idiot. Ignore him. Actually, your major helps you to stand out and hints at the fact that you may actually have some sort of personality which is kind of nice in a pre-med.

Just do well in your classes and you'll be fine.

It's amazing how people who have completely nothing to do with medicine, always want to weigh in their idiotic opinions about medicine.

Don't worry, you will be fine.

There's not very many History majors in med school, but anybody w/ a decent MCAT/GPA deserves to get in regardless of their major.

He's wrong. Honestly, the next time someone wearing a vest with their name on it (and their not a navy seal wearing a life-vest) gives you life advice ... ignore it.

It's a crack up. I'm going into medicine because I like helping other people and there is nothing more I will care about than my patients ... but sometimes I don't get where people get their opinions/knowledge about medicine/med school/doctors. I'll assume WebMD.

Majors don't matter anymore as long as you've completed your required coursework. I majored in computer science for my undergraduate degree, and I got into LECOM-Erie without any issue. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other places that I applied to, but I'm sure LECOM won't be the only interview/acceptance that I get.
