I've been looking for post-bac programs for dental... The only one I've seemed to find offered to both medical and dental is uconn:idea: Does anyone know any others?

Also-- does anyone know the stats of people who've been accepted into UConn's post-bac for dental? UConn is definately my first choice for post-bac, even more because I really want to go there for dental school..and does the fact that I'm a CT resident better my chances at all of getting in?

Thanks :luck::laugh:

There's one at SFSU that feeds into UCSF and UoP.

Use the SDN search function and you will find plenty of posts that provide great information about available post-bac programs.

Good luck!

did you mean post-bac programs for dental for those students who have low GPA from their undergraduate school?

I suggest that u shouldn't go there if u have GPA higher than 3.0 because it's totally wasting of ur time and money.

Anyway, if you have to go there to earn better GPA, I recommend you to go graduated schools with SMP(Special Masters Program) because those schools give you master's degree after u finished SMP. UConn, Upenn, Harvard, and most schools have post-bac programs for dental, but those school don't give u master's degree after post-bac programs. I am very sure that most of dental schools prefer graduate schools with SMP rather than post-bac programs without master's degree. SMP students take same classes with dental or medical students.

There are 3 schools with SMP for dental schools that i know, and they are Boston, UMDNJ, and VCU.

here is more information about SMP.

Thanks for all the info !

Plaier-- I actually had a solid 3.5GPA overall and about 3.6 science (didnt take the DAT yet).. but fall semester I had kind of a rough semester family-wise and my grades suffered as a result, and I ended up getting a C- in vertebrate physiology, bringing my science GPA to about a 3.3 and overall to about 3.35ish...

I was talking to a student who is a senior this year (I'm a junior) and she told me about the post-bac option. If I got into uconn's post-bac program it would be about 4k for in-state, and they have an option where you can get contingient acceptance into UConn Dental which would definately be optimal for me because I really want to go there for dental school..

I still am taking the DAT most likely this summer, and depending how I do I might still apply to right dental school instead of doing the post-bac option, but I don't know about the C-... :-\

What do you think?
