I know when we apply they calculate the oGPA and sGPA for us so does it means Dental school won't look at the GPA on school transcript? Also, one more question...if I'm graduating in 2012 which cycle should I apply?? I am not really clear about this question. Thanks~

not sure about your first question although imo, they look at all GPAs (please correct me if i'm wrong).

if you are graduating in (june?) 2012 and want to matriculate in fall 2012, then you need to apply in 2011.

Schools will look at your AADSAS GPA. Because different universities have different grading methods (using pluses and minuses, pass/fail, point system, etc) AADSAS will take your transcript and convert it to the AADSAS GPA which will make it easier to compare students. Also, some schools will drop the lower grade on a repeated course. This isn't the case with AADSAS, both classes will be factored into your GPA.

If you are planning on matriculating in 2012, you will need to submit your application in June of 2011, as the person above me said.

Just out of curiosity...

How is your AADSAS GPA calculated? Do all the pluses and minuses get ignored, and the result is just the standard letter grade, A/B/C?

AADSAS has you break your GPA into 4 categories:

Overall
Biology, Chemistry, Physics (BCP)
All science (BCP + other science classes)
Non science GPA

They count all classes you've taken, including retakes (so if you got a C in a four credit hour class, but then retook it and got an A, you'd count both separately).

They then calculate your GPA with and without the pluses for each of the four categories, giving them 8 GPAs they can look at.

I thought they looked at your transcripts for upward trends in GPA. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Every course and grade is on the AADSAS application (you even have to input them yourself)...the GPA has its own section. I'm sure dental schools look at everything though.
