i graduated from the University of Alexandria in Egypt and moved to california and just got accepted at USC as far as i know most of the private dental schools are brand new, i actually have friends in staff of pharos university "if that is how it is spelled out" anyways in regards to the best school i am not sure , but i am guessing you are interested for two reasons
1. no undergrade
2. it is dirt cheap

but if you are planing to work in the USA you would need to finish the boards and another two years which will end up way cheaper and almost the same amount of time if not less so i d say it is a smart move

beside you 'd end up finishing dentistry from two schools it really doesn't get better than that

let me know if you have any questions about Alexandria university
one of the things that i can tell you now the clinical exposure is massive and you can say i have seen it all, but in most cases you pay for your patients treatment in full which is still cheap, goodluck

well, I am planning to actually come back to canada, it is understanding that starting 2011, I will only have to do a test. as for egyptian studies, is there a work term or something of that sort where u actually work on the patients, and does that apply to private universities.
The reason for private university is according to what I have heard
Better teachers, smaller class sizes, no need for too much private lessons, and labs etc, are at much better state than public, although public comes with the best price tag. I was thinking of going to MSA actually, if you know anything about it, thank you.

also, what you have learnt in egypt, when you came back do u feel like u missed anything, or would u be fine to go ahead with the exams right away.

thank you

hey mike, i graduated from Ain Shams University.
whatever happens, Donot even think about any public universities. the only advantage is that you'll be a hard worker but nothing other than that.
MIU is the best private university over here. i would definitely recommend that. Dental school is pretty good there. MSA is the ****tiest.
Just put in mind that once you graduate you have to make sure that going back to Canada is guaranteed and that you can take the license.
You'll have a great time here in Egypt..
Good luck.

no, its not too late.....thank you all for the replies, greatly appreciated, I checked about MSA, its verified, in canada, but i'll check for MIU. I just want to get one thing clear.....why is MIU, such a better University than MSA.....and also as for housing, what am i looking at in terms of monthly expenses with food, and rent.....And when is a good time to go there, see the campus apply and look for an apartmen, I was aiming for july...but i would rather take opinion of experience.

What are the tests Like in MIU, is it a straight memorize, and write, or is it knowledge; I'm sayin that because I had a friend that went to medical school, in egypt (public University), he said he couldnt take it, because a test would be something like what is on page 56, and it was all memorization, nothing based on knowledge.
and as far as private lessons, are they required for private as it is for public, or no.

Thank You

have u thot about studying in India?.........u get a more open society and an english speaking pop.

what are the requirements for a uk candidate?

This was extremely helpful, especially with patients, I had a friend here, diong dental hygeinist, and had to wait an extra year, due to patient situation. I will plan to go to MIU, as it is clearly a better choice. My last question, is anyone here from Canada, that has studied dentistry in Egypt.

well in canada, you have to take undergrad, then apply to dentistry school, interview, community hours.....a long process, then its another 4 years minimum....plus a lot of money...by goin to egypt, i cut time and money by half

Hi Michael, I am from Canada as well and planing to go study dentistry in Egypt.. I just had a question from you,, how did you figure out which university is verified in Canada and which one is not? Also how do you know that starting 2011 you will only need to do one test? I really want to know the proceedure once I come back to Canada.. I heard I should study an extra 2 years after the test. Please let me know the sourse of the information so that I can double check..
Hopfully we can be class mates this year :)

hello mikekijiji, im a dental graduate from MIU and i want tell u that the system is real mess with that university beside the grading system is real tough in MIU so think twice before u apply there . glad to help u if u have more questions regarding MIU

Hi, this thread forced me to sign up

I dont want to open another thread asking the same questions that the author did

so did someone recently finish getting a dental degree from egypt and then came back to Canada and got lincensed (or at least in his or her way to)

Im in second year biology undergraduate major in york university canada which leads to specifically nothing but if you dont get 85% average, you are not going to get accepted to local canadian schools. you also have to volunteer at dentist, hospital, sport for good resume for interview ... OR I can apply for US dental school and that would take astronomical amount of money from me (debt) and need high DAT scores (short time intense curving and knowledge testing needed for both canadian and us dental schools

york's lecture halls are massive and the labs are not at the top. The teacher may or may not know the material but in all cases they cannot properly teach... we have lab TAs that cannot fluently speak english to even teach

and worst of all... The average of every midterm (15-30% each) is low 60s... No mater how hard I try its gone down the drain...

Enuff ranting  I'm deciding between MIU or MS&T (Misr Science and Technology)....

i have canadian and egyptian passport btw and finished highschool in Canada with IB Diploma as well (may be can help)

Any thoughts

You realize that the pass rate for the test is about 8%? Also, the government can get rid of this equivalency process at any time and they might (they did this in the 1990s).

Basically, you run a very high risk of never getting licensed in Canada if you go this route.

I am studied dentistry in Egypt, and now i'm back in the US trying to get licensed.
In my opinion, there are two really good private universities that offer dentistry. MSA University in 6th of October, and MIU (Misr International University). I graduated from MSA, which is IMO the second best private university in egypt. The first one for dentistry is MIU.

holla if u need anything

why dont u guys think about germany.. its now easy .. simple.. no fees and good stipend during specialisation branch..

hey guysss think about denmark, it is very easy to get licenced here and the pay is very high .you can make $15K/MONTH very easily.

Hey Mike I just graduated recently from a private Dental School in Egypt and for sure would like to offer my help in anything you need, I have a very good exposure on different dental schools so I think I might have some answers to your question..... Anyway let me know if you need anything

Best of luck :luck::luck::xf:

Hey Michael .. I graduated from Alexandria university and I ended up at UW but I heard good stuff about Pharos university as a private school in alexandria ... I know that when you finish school and you wanna come back to Canada you don't need to take school again.. Only board exams and then license exams.... Good luck..:)

Hi,

I am emigrating to Cairo and I'm interested in the study dentistry at the uni MIU. I read their admission requirements and one of the things is passing thanaweya amma or it's equivalent. Is it for a foreigner possible to do certain tests in Cairo which are equal to the abovementioned? Perhaps do tests on the univeristy? If not, what else could I do to get in?

Thanks!

Hey I graduated from MIU too!!!, what year was your graduation?!

If you planning to go back to Canada then do yourself a favor and stay where you are. Otherwise, it will take you really long to get your license in Canada. Yet, the system isn't bad academically in Egypt. You will learn what you need to be a dentist and you will get to practice on patients a lot regardless of what school you're going to study at. Good luck!

COME ON! CONTINUE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT!
I'm considering majoring in MIU next year.
Please I need some guidance.
I really wanna know what to look forward to after graduating (starting salary and such) I BEG YOUUU
Also if I should go with dentistry in MIU or with medicine in MUST
