Designer Items at Interviews...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think bringing a bag, whether it be a $20 or a $2000 bag, is a bit ridiculous. What could you possibly have in there that you would need that you wouldn't be able to carry. The most you would need at an interview would be a pen and a folder with some pockets for blank paper and for the papers you'll be receiving. What else could you possibly need that would need to be in that bag? Extra socks, underwear, a laptop just in case they ask you if you know how to use the internet? C'mon now. Being superficial isn't going to get you any browny points. I think it would just make it look as if you are trying waaaaaay to hard. 👎

I carried extra shoes that I could change into for the campus tour. A lot of people recommended this (for women) and I agree that it was a great idea.

My bag was black. How is that superficial?

Wouldn't it be more professional to carry say, a portfolio?

I don't think it matters that it's a Vuitton, but that would look ridiculous with a black suit.

you have multiple louis vuittons and a hugo boss suit? damn..i wish i could afford that...although even if I had the money, I'm not sure if I'd be inclined to drop that much money on a purse.

Just for everyone's info, I did not purchase my designer items myself. I have worked every year during undergrad to have spending money/pay rent/etc--I have never once asked my parents for money to buy designer items. I personally feel very lucky that I can have such a wardrobe and definitely do not judge others if they are not dressed head to toe in designer clothes. My collection of designer goods comes courtesy of my aunt/uncle. He is vice president for a multinational corporation and allows my aunt to take me shopping. I generally try to buy only a few things, but my aunt ends up insisting that I buy more (or she'll just take it to the register when I resist). When I graduated this past spring and we went to Vegas, even though I only wanted a new laptop, I somehow ended up with about $10,000 in clothes and accessories.
