I don't know if this applies to anyone else here but I'm a type one diabetic and I want to be a dentist. I'd just like to know if there are any others out there like me or if you've already become a dentist what kind of obstacles you've had to overcome.

I keep my sugars pretty well under control but I worry about complications surfacing later in my life because even if I manage my diabetes perfectly they can still show up. 😕

I'd like to pursue orthodontics and I believe I have the aptitude for it. Just wondering if there was anyone else out there like me

19 AA
3.9 GPA

four OOS interviews
one In state interview

p.s. so far I have not actually told any of the schools that I am diabetic. Should I do this? I feel like it will negatively effect my chances.

Don't worry Mathhias! For sure they would also understand your situation and that shouldn't be the reason to refrain you from pursuing your dreams. It might be more difficult at times but when you can manage it well that is going to be fine as far as I think.
Best of luck
