Diary of a dental student

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
very cool, ty for posting.... Just curious what is your overall rank? You seem to be working hard, I imagine pretty high

Thanks! My first year I was in the top 10%. This year I have been relaxing more. I honestly do not know my rank.

what school do you attend? your core classes look like a medical curriculum. is this common for all dental schools?.. is this your first year? thx

We did take all of our sciences with medical students. My school is ranked very high in amount of science hours. I would guess other schools have a less intense science cirriculum… however, I don't know for sure.

I am a D2.

Excellent! I am a 2nd year undergrad so I will for sure be following this for the next 2 years. 😎

thank you nice post

Thanks for the post. It sounds like very interesting/hard/rewarding stuff.

Thanks so much! I always wished there was some dental blog with lots of pictures…and then I was like "I should just make one!"

Again, Thanks for the support. Tell your friends 🙂

For the record bmr001122, if I fail neuro, it's because I keep refreshing your blog to see if you updated it.

hey quick question. if i go to school out of state, do i have to register my car in that state or should i leave it registered at my parents address?

I know of people who have done both. I registered my car when I moved, but I have friends that kept it under their parents address. Hope that helps.

I think its NOVA that lecture room looks familiar when they invited some undergrad students from Florida universities.

Nope, it's not Nova... and the student eats Pinkberry. Must be from a Cali school

Good observation sir but that lecture hall looks similar to one in NOVA same type of structure and all.

or NYC! Minus the weather haha. Pinkberry sounds so good right now.

...maybe at first glance, but not when you've spent many hours in the Nova lecture halls. Besides, there are a lot of other differences on the blog too.

How long did it take you two to prepare for the DAT, and what study materials did you use?

Wrong forum 😀 There's a huge list on the DAT forum of people's scores with their breakdowns. I would suggest looking at that. It has a lot of good information.

Yea, I know that. I am just curious as to what THEY used.

The DAT was actually not my strong point. I really was naive going into it and my scores were far less then awesome…actually they were even below average. I was extremely lucky to get into school my first time applying and right out of undergrad. I did exceptionally well my first year of dental school, as I felt I had something to prove to myself and others (like that I was smart enough and competent to be a dentist).
So, what I used to study is probably not that relevant, but I used a the Kaplan book (not the program) and practice tests. That is about it. There is a million things I would do different if I could go back and re-do the DAT, but shout out to everyone who's scores aren't where they want them… Keep your head up…miracles happen 🙂
