Did anyone apply to MPH programs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What do you mean? MPH programs that are not at Public Health schools?

Yours are too! 😀 I didn't know that those schools offered MPH programs. How long is the program, 2 years?

Yeah 47 units which is about two years, the stats are not that bad 1 in 7 students gets accepted at CSUF but I'm not sure about CSULB.

Hi, congrats to all who got through. and *fingers crossed* for those who are waiting for their acceptance.
I need your help people! I have recently decided on mph from USA, after going through the abysmal treatment meted out to the dentists in my country (INDIA)
I have a GPA of 2.4 (bad i know), and worked in a govt. hospital as a resident dentist for 6 months. nd in a private dental clinic for 6 months.
I have no experience in public health. But the more i read about it, the more i am drawn to it.
I am yet to give my GRE, but i can manage a good score

Please tell me honestly, what are my chances of getting into a good school of public health. Will i be able to get a place in the top 10 unis? Please help!!

Rush19 experience as a dentist is health experience. What concentration are you interested in? Dental Public Health is a concentration if that is what you are seeking..UMDNJ, U MICH and some other schools have this program (MPH). There are also certificate programs. Your GPA will be a huge limiting factor (got to tell you the truth) but I had a super low gpa when I applied and was able to talk about my experiences, strengths and how I was planning on using my mph to get into my top choice (Emory).
I also had a decent GRE (1210) according to the old GRE. It wasn't great but it was in range for all the schools I had applied to. Also recommendations have to be on point. My professors and boss talked to me about what characteristics they were going to emphasize and my professors specifically talked about my low GPA and how it that was an aberration.

I think the important thing is to figure out why you want an MPH, be honest with your professors or supervisors so that they can write recommendations that help you out and apply to schools that are within range for your GRE scores.

Sorry this was long, but I have a low GPA so I had to share. If you have any other questions specific to applying with a low GPA (or anything else) feel free to PM me=).
