So I applied last cycle, got some interviews and am WListed at all schools. I am planning to reapply with more non-service and clinical hours (gap year job scribing+200 clinical volunteering and added 300 non clinical service hours), my science GPA was a 3.9 last cycle, and I will be reapplying with a 3.75 sGPA this cycle. I made a C in anatomy and an A in cellular mechanisms in the fall, and this semester I made two Bs in biochem 2 and physiology, which brings my senior sGPA to a 2.8, my fresh soph and junior sGPAs were 3.9 3.9 4.0, and my cGPA will be a 3.77. How bad does this look?

It does not look good - that's for sure. If you apply to different schools though, then they will see it like new and it will not be as bad.

You're supposed to demonstrate that you can handle rigorous coursework.

How do you think that this will go over???

YMMV but I reapplied with a simliar downward trend in grades and got several acceptances. However, I retook the mcat and scored higher on the advice of the schools that rejected me the first time. You need to fix whatever caused them to reject you in the first place, for me that was the mcat bc my GPA and EC's were strong. You increased your service hours, is that something a school commented on?

Can’t say very well. I guess for added context my science hours were 21 freshman year, 31 sophomore year, 21 junior year, and 14 this year. I have made As in other higher level sciences such as microbio, genetics, biochem 1

But the C in anatomy makes it appear that you can't keep all the chain saws you're juggling up in the air, and one of them landed on your foot.

I'll be honest, my Adcom has not accepted people with this kind of record.

So what would you recommend doing? For more context mcat is a 511 and balanced

Applying again in the next immediate cycle with now a significantly weaker application is a mistake. Many medical schools offer specific pages of advice for reapplicants, something I find few students look into. This would be true whether or not you are a specific reapplicant to that school. Below are links to a few and please note most say the most common mistake among reapplicants is applying again too soon

Should I do a Masters in my gap year / WAMC / advice please

Reapplicants - Miller School of Medicine Admissions
Roughly 20% of the students who apply to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in any given year are reapplicants. Data that we have collected indicate they have a lower acceptance rate than do first time applicants

There should be significant improvements in your application before reapplying. This might mean not reapplying the very next year. The most common error made by reapplicants is that they submit their next application too soon.

To maximize the chances of giving off this perception, you must allow enough time before reapplying. This will undoubtedly be the hardest part of the process, but be patient; if you rush it, you may join the ranks of those who are applying for a third time.

Though you can submit a second application immediately after your first application, you may want to consider waiting a year if you feel you need more experiences that help you demonstrate the essential and desired qualities of an ideal medical student.

Yeah that’s what worries me, I don’t want to apply with a lower gpa but what do I do? A 3.75 sgpa and 3.77 cgpa seem too high for an smp. I also had 4 II this cycle (Texas resident too btw). I’ve significantly boosted my clinical hours, non clinical hours, got better LORs, much better ps, but I am also applying with the same mcat (511). I’m also planning on applying to a lot of low tier/low yield amcas schools. But I would really like to know what to do about the gpa drop situation?
