Hi SDN. I've been a long-time lurker here and now, perhaps I am in somewhat of a predicament.

I graduated 2010 with a bio-related major bachelors from a highly selective university and applied to MD programs for Fall 2011 admittance. I've already been accepted to some, with one of them being a highly selective school in the northeast region.

Now, in my AMCAS, I said I would be doing research and taking a biochem course during my year off at a regional public university. Come my year off, I found out working 60+ hours a week in a lab doesn't leave much time to study. So, I got a C- in my biochem course. Feels painful. But, my lab job is incredibly enjoyable, educational, and rewarding despite the hours. I kind of stuck my head in too far down the wet-lab bunny hole and lost touch with reality.

So, SDN, how would you deal with this? Ever hear of kids getting kicked out of a program for one ****ty grade during a year off?

Personally, I think you are making mountains out of mole hills. Although on that note, I would really try and learn that biochem because it will make your med school life easier if you know a little biochem coming in.

Thanks. But, how will you handle this then? Send them a letter with the transcript? Send the transcript in at the very last minute?
