Hello
My undergrad school offers chemistry and lab separately. I took the chem lectures, but not gchem lab or ochem lab.
I have already graduated and cannot take them anymore.
what solutions exist for me?
the local community college offers chem AND lab in one class. obviously i could go there and take everything all over again, but i would rather not. I thought about going there and talking to the chair of the chem department and asking them to let me take just the lab portion, but i doubt that they will let me.

what else can i do?

now there reason i didnt take lab: i hate lab. I hate how it is disorganized, chaos, people are running about and nobody knows what the hell is going on. and i hate how they make you worry about significant figures rather than focusing on the point of the lab.

Indeed lab is a bitch. But yes if your school doesn't allow you to take the lab after graduation. I would say that just retaking the whole course at the CC might be your only viable option. That is unless you can possibly find another program such as maybe your state university or a post-bacc's which will allow you to take the labs.

Come back to your schools and take the labs as a non degree seeking student. If your school like others gen chem lab I> gen chem lab II> Orgo lab I> orgo lab II, it will take a about a year if you take them ine summer and fall/spring.

Yeah. Other than doing them as a non degree student, your only option is to retake the entire class. Bummer. And there is no way to hurry through them. Best case it was take 2 semesters, but most likely 4 semesters (so a year if you do summers).

I took 2 quarters of gchem and 2 quarters of ochem.
at the cc, they are on a semester system. they have gchem I with lab, gchem 2 with lab, ochem I with lab, ochem 2 with lab.

so you are telling me its not enough to take gchem I and ochem I ?

At my school, we have plenty of people who have already graduated but are taking a certain course or lab. Just see if youcan take Lab at your school or talk to the head of the Chem dept. And then your last resort is just taking the whole lecture + lab again, but I'm sure there is a way around it because I see plenty of people doing it.

I took combined chem and lab in my undergrad. Although the course contained both elements, they were for 1 combined grade and therefore the lab component is not on my transcript. The med school I most want to get into requires that the labs be separate with separate grades. So, I am retaking the course as a non-degree post-bacc student.
