Search results on this topic were all over the map. I pulled some of my apps last year after an abysmal MCAT score. So, AMCAS was submitted and verified but secondaries were not submitted. Am I a reapplicant? Does it depend on individual schools or is there a nice, neat answer?

Calling AAMC is a nightmare LOL.. wait times are through the roof.

I do believe you are a reapplicant if you ever submitted the primary application.

This is straight from amcas: "If you have a processed AMCAS application from a previous application year, you are considered a re-applicant to those previous medical schools. This is regardless of whether or not a secondary application was completed. "

Just highlighting an important detail.

+1

You are a reapplicant only to schools you have applied to before -- but even then, pay attention to how secondaries phrase the question:

1. Are you a reapplicant to our school? - Yes, Only if you sent applied via AMCAS to them last time otherwise no.
2. Are you a reapplicant to medical school? - Yes regardless if you have applied to the school before.
3. Have you submitted a secondary to our school before? - No.

Just pay attention to the wording.

Exacto!

For the vast majority, you are counted as a reapplicant. It can vary for select schools... I know Case for example asks if you are a reapp and they mean "did you submit a secondary before?"

Didn't you already have to answer this question when you submitted your primary? What did you put then?

AMCAS asks for previous matriculation, not previous application.

I mean when you add individual schools. For instance, this is me trying to send my primary to Case:

Ah, got it. Thanks all. Will have to do some minor editing on the AMCAS primary before submitting then. Hoping this won't hurt me too badly.

I have a similar issue. I applied to a combined program when i was 18 (and was accepted). i never got to the part of submitting amcas and never matriculated (i confirmed this with the school) and I ended up declining the offer after a year of deferral because I didn't think med school was for me (believe me, i'm kicking myself now). so one of the schools i applied to asked "have you ever applied to medical school in the past?" I called them and they said to fill out what I thought was most honest (???). So I said yes and re-iterated my situation in the explain what you're doing differently in this cycle to be accepted section (which clearly didn't apply to me). I'm probably over-reading into things.
