I don't want to know how much my post bac. GPA will bring up my cGPA ( i calculate that stuff on my own)...but I would like to know if having about 30-40 hours of 4.0 post bac. GPA will have some big significance on my application. Will it be seen like a new GPA of 4.0 and completely negate, say, a lowly 3.3 cGPA from undergrad? I must say that I am loving the fact that the transcript will automatically say " pos bac. gpa" , because it is the only "4" on there. lol

Postbacc gpa is calculated into ug gpa unless they are graduate level classes.

How large of an effect 30-40 credits will have is dependent on the total number of credits you currently have. 36 credits for me raised my gpa from a 2.65 to a 3.28. I had 121 credits to start.

yea bro I calculated mine without DO replacement, and in one quarter ( 11 hours) mine went from cgpa 3.185 to now I believe it's 3.25, so pretty decent. I have a lot of hours though, so as I continue to take classes and make A's, the chances of getting into D.O school over MD school increase more and more, because obviously the MD school gpa would be 3.25 as of now. I have no idea what my D.O. will be, but it should be around 3.5 s and c when I'm ready to apply.

I saw somewhere that the post bac. GPA is visible on some part of the application..I haven't gotten that far yet so I wont know.

3.3 for DO isn't "lowly", unless you are referring to MD.

I went to that site that tells you your chances of getting into schools based on stats, and that's why i say it's low. Also, mdapplicants.com is rediculous. I keep seeing 3.7-3.8 27q for DO schools lol...what gives? DO school standards need to stay low enough long enough for me to get in!

lol yeah the stats are definitely going up! I think if you took about 20 post bac credits and get a 4.0, you would probably be just fine. Especially if you think you have around a 3.5 with grade replacement. The more upper level the better.

Just FYI I got accepted to Nova this cycle with a 3.26s/3.24c GPA.

Nothing completely negates another, but yes i think it has a very positive effect on your application if you demonstrate competency at the graduate level. I had a 3.2 uGPA and a 3.8+ gGPA and although I will never know for sure exactly what effect that had, it definitely helped because it did come up in interviews. The only reason why it wasn't a 3.9+ is due to a B in one class even though I had an 88 average, and I got a couple A-.

I once had the GPA breakdown from my AACOMAS app but I can't find it anyore. I'm going to see if I can retrieve it from AACOMAS, then I'll know for sure.

Yea I know , but if I remember correctly you got like a 33 mcat, which is rock solid for most DO schools and really good for MD as well. Kudos .. If I get a 33 I will **** a brick.. A happy brick!
