So I got a job offer and Walgreens, and took the drug test today so everythings good, right when I come home CVS Pharmacy calls and wants an interview, If I get the CVS Pharmacy Job which one should I take? What should I tell Walgreens if they call back wanting me to work right away? Should I say I want to see the opportunities CVS has to offer before I take the job? A little confused here. Thanks.

Just tell Walgreens exactly that. That you want to weigh your options.

I would go to each pharmacy at around 5.00PM and see how busy it gets. Also, the more people working in the pharmacy, the better. That means they aren't understaffed and won't overwork you. Starting as a pharmacy clerk is very stressful. There are always problems with customers and they can get really angry. So just look at the neighborhood and look at the parking lot (is it crowded?). The richer the neighborhood, the more entitled and demanding the people are, from my experience.

I had a similar situation as you...started training at Walgreens and got an interview offer from CVS near by. Since pharmacy manager at Walgreens was so nice I didn't bother to contemplate....and it didn't take too long until I found out that the pharmacy filled rx ave. 500/day and got bombed every other day...and I was thinking if I were a tech at CVS, would I get the same workload and stress?
It all depends on store location. If I were you, I would definitely check traffic everyday each pharmacy gets, then decide which would be better off for you.
Heavy workload is fine with me but the thing is you can't learn some good stuffs from pharmacists or from your experience while stading in front of the cash register or drive thru all day long....

yeah the Walgreens by my house is pretty much packed all the time. And CVS said theyll call me back cause there packed with interview this week but well see. and I didnt know about the tests you had to take for the job. CVS one was a little hard..lol

I have also been in this situation. When I moved to Gainesville (UF) I applied to Walgreens, CVS, and Shands Hospital (Shands being the preferred job). Getting hired at Walgreens was pretty quick (2 weeks) - but Shands took nearly a month. When I found out I was definitely goiing to be offered a position at Shands, I just informed Walgreens I could no longer continue the new hire process.

Just be upfront (as long as you know for a fact you will get both jobs)

If you dont care, you can use it as leverage for more pay from one or the other

Good luck to you

A couple of things to think about:

Is this a temporary or long-term decision?

If long-term, check into things like raises for certification, opportunity to "move up" in the company, benefits like insurance/profit-sharing/vacation and holiday policies, etc.

If short term, I would say "follow the money." As long as you're upfront about your situation (i.e. going away to pharmacy school in x number of months or whatever) and put forth your best effort for the little while that you are there, you should be able to leave on good terms when the time comes.

P.S. Busier stores are more appealing to me because the time seems to go by faster. Filling 500/day isn't necessarily bad - If the store is staffed and managed well, things can run smoothly.

Also look into whether they have tuition assistance.

Well I didnt get the job at CVS, I got Walgreens but the one by my house is so busy I mean BUSY, and after 4 days in the Pharmacy they tell me I have training on the comp. so Ive been in the pharmacy for no reason at all not knowing anything except cashiering, Hopfully target hurries up and opens a position up I dont think I can stay at walgreens or I think its just I dont know everything yet and I dont feel comfortable with things there.

In my opinion, Walgreens "PEAP" leaves a lot to be desired (but I really have no knowledge about other companies and how their assistance plans, if any, compare). I guess the plan might add a little incentive if you're looking at it in conjunction with other benefits.

djg...I know it's hard but try not to get discouraged yet! You are coming in at the busiest time of the year with very little/no training - it's going to be rough until after the first of the year, but look at it this way: If you're able to keep your sanity in a new store during the height of flu season and the holiday madness, things will be a breeze when spring rolls around 🙂 Seriously, though - it took me many months to feel comfortable in my (also very busy) store. I recently transferred to a different location and it's like being the new kid on the block all over again (I've been with the company for almost 7 years now). If you have questions or just need to "vent", please feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help.
