My wife will only allow me to buy one toy. I want a new set of wheels.

I have my eyes set on the new Chevy Malibu est $27k (fully loaded model)

or

Keep my current cheap reliable paid for korean car with over 110k miles on it and buy a motorcycle. I'm looking at a Hyosung GV 250 est $3500. It seems like it will be a great starter bike for me since I've never ridden one....

If I get the motorcycle now, maybe I can get more toys in the future out of the deal. Who knows....what do you all think I should do?

and no divorcing her and getting both toys is not an option

You certainly don't need a POS American made Malibu now...and certainly don't need to hop on a motorcycyle.

Dood...get a grip. If you need a toy, you don't say.."hon, can I get ...."

You say...."Hon..which color should I get...." Be a freaking Man... I'm not paying taxes for you to protect my country when you're P*ssyfootin around your wife...

Lol!!!! Now you know who wears the pants...

Bikes are a lot of fun but if you're going to get one, get something bigger than a 250. A bike that size with a 250 engine couldn't possibly push past 55 mph...Also, $3500 is quite a bit for a starter bike cause you're going to drop that thing more times than you think. I spent $900 on my starter bike. get something with a bigger engine, lighter (easier to handle and pick up when you drop it), and cheaper then maybe you can get both!

I agree you will probably want a bigger motor on your bike.
And If you go with a bike at least your gas expenses will decrease.
But I say keep the car if its running and throw that cash in the TSP

Don't mess with a 250....Sheese my son is 2 and a half and he rides a bigger bike than that.

I vote for the car because to me a motorcycle is a "donorcycle," yes, I may have been working in an ER too long, but really, unless you have a really huge life insurance policy for your wife to soothe her sorrow with, go with the car...

A little delayed gratification here..... Get the car, but get the hybrid. When your done your residency and your making some real money, get yourself a toy.....

Well...depends. I looked into hybrids, but the pay-off for the extra cost would take me 6-8 years to recoup. And it also depends if you're more of a city/highway driver.

Unless you're going hybrid for altruistic reasons and are just doing it to be greeeeen 😀

There is no need to go green. And producing a hybrid vehicle is probably just as toxic or more toxic to the environment.

The humanity has always been arrogant in our ability to damage the environment and over-estimate the impact we have on Earth. Little Carbon we dump into our atmosphere provides a minute amount of greenhouse gas compared to what mother nature spews out. In fact, CO2 we provide probably is good for our vegetation. Little warming we have seen during the past 100 years (0.6 celcius) won't hurt us...in fact it may be good for us....extend the agricultural season...extend the golf season in canada by 5 days etc.

Heck, we just got out of the Ice Age...and the surface has been warming ever since.

Buy a hummer and put out as much CO2 you can... and stop feeding those "global warmin doomsayers" who wants money from you. 👍

lol...I shoulda known that last line would get under your skin!

Hey...I heard 11 consecutive days 100+ degrees in big D. You must be loving your Reynolds-wrapped roof!

Buying a new car is the dumbest thing any consumer could ever do. Buy a freakin' 3 year old Lincoln LS or something. Twice the car, $10,000 less.

I'm content with my Taurus, personally. F' expensive cars. I'd rather have a cool house. I'm gonna save up and get me a log cabin on a little chunk of land where I can walk around my house ass naked and not have to worry about the neighbors and I can shoot crap in my backyard without the local cops getting all pissed off at me...again.

If you are going to step down, get the Cobalt. I bought for my daughter last year and it is really nice. It gets 35 mpg on the highway and around 25 mpg in the city.....

Step up from Cobalt and get a Civic. High resale value and great gas mileage, 36mpg. Heck..it even looks pretty good.

The average height of Japanese men is 5'5. Average height of Japanese females is 5' 1.5". Cars designed for such averages are a little annoying to fit into, but they can sure run well.

Dood please... Honda Civic is designed in California by Americans and built in Ohio..

Bicycles don't have restrictions on those who are vertically enhanced.

I bought a Hyosung GV250 last month. It's great for commuting to work. Don't get a Ninja, real motorcyclists ride cruisers. The GV250 is a cruiser, gets great gas mileage, and has a top speed of around 90mph. I haven't ridden it over 70mph. It handles nicely. I don't expect to be trading up anytime soon.

I ride a Suzuki SV650s. It has 72hp, a DOHC liquid cooled v-twin and a 6 speed transmission. It is faster than anything on just about anything on 4 wheels. I get 50 mpg as well. I've ridden cruisers, and they have the steering geometry of a Barcalounger on wheels. I'm 6'5" and fit on this bike perfectly. I've been riding for 2 years and have never gone down. I wear a helmet and a jacket anytime that I ride. This bike is the perfect blend of sportiness and economy. It's not an inline-4 that you will kill yourself on the first day, and it has enough zip to keep you honest. It's worth a look. (The 2008 model is fully faired.) 👍👍👍

but i want a cruiser!

We live in a internet world now... Buying a used car is a lot easier and takes much less hassle especially as you can go through the steps of making sure you aren't getting a lemon. If your getting an american car I say go for something with muscle. If you go with an asian car then you have to think about getting some aesthetics for it otherwise it just doesn't look that great, and no I dont mean rice it up. I personally prefer going with a European car.

Motorcycle is fun, but there are a lot of times it becomes a hassle and you will end up just riding your old car. Get it after you get a nice car as your next toy.
