I am a post bac finishing up my prerequisites this summer and deciding between taking the classes I have left at the state university from which I have a BS, or my local pretty well respected CC.

I have already taken a few prereqs at county.

My question is, does taking classes at a County College still hurt you despite applying with disadvantaged status?
I just can't keep taking on this kind of debt when things are already as tight as they can be.
One class at State U this summer will cost me ~1200, while at county it will cost ~400.
In addition, county has classes at night which allows me to keep working, the state U realy doesn't.

I'm sincerely doing the best I can with what I have available to me.
What do you guys think?
Thank you.

When you are sincerely doing the best you can with what you have available, it is the right choice.

Taking classes at a CC as a post-bacc is very common because of both the scheduling availability and cost. Many people also take them there prior to transferring to a 4 year. Those situations are very understandable. The CC classes that do tend to get raised eyebrows are the ones that students take at the same time as they take their 4 year college courses. That's when it looks like they are trying to find an easier course.

You have good reasons to take take your courses at the CC. So, you shouldn't fret about it.

How's your GPA back at undergrad? If that's solid I don't think you should worry about taking classes at the CC.
