Hi guys,

I have tried to find information regarding this but haven't been successful.

I was wondering if Dental Schools accept Distance Ed courses?
I am planning to take some electives as distance education and was wondering.

Thank you

You might try asking the schools you want to apply to directly, or ask the ADEA, AADSAS. Other than that, you might try looking into colleges that offer online courses, rather than risking it on distance learning.

They sure do, I talked to MD admissions people. They highly recommend online courses. Most of the dental schools incorporate online courses in their curriculum.

You have to check with each school you are applying to. I don't think they particularly care if it is elective courses, but some schools are a little more picky if you have prerequisite courses that are distance ed. Most schools don't care or take it on a case to case bases, but other schools, like VCU do not take online classes for prerequisites no matter what--even when I explained that all of the tests were taken at the distance education center on campus. Here's what I got from the school's I applied to:

ECU - it's fine
UNC - They said it's fine because they know NC State distance ed classes are good. I don't know if that means it is generally fine overall or what.
Maryland - Case to case basis/will contact if they have questions
Louisville - It's fine
Kentucky - As long as it's from an accredited institution, it's fine
Temple - It's fine/will contact if they have questions
VCU - do not take internet classes at all
