I'm currently in the Marine Corps, 19 years old, and want to get started on my journey.
I am just worried about taking courses online, I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan universitys online science and interdisciplinary course associates degree program. When I finish this I'll be transfering to a campus university, but with my training and deployment cycle I do not have.the time to go to a campus right now.
So my question is; will this come back to haunt me later down the road when I start applying? Will Med schools frown down on it? And will it be a disadvantage on my applications? Thank you.

Your record of military service will be right on page 1 of your medical school application (what we call the AMCAS) and you may want to cover how you managed school plus military deployments in your essay. I think that many admissions committees (adcoms) will consider the circumstances and cut you some slack in the location/method of your coursework but not in the grads. Aim for A or A- in all courses.

The one thing that can haunt you is a string of B or lower grades (especially lower than B).

In my experience, adcoms hold veterns and active duty personnel in high regard (haven't seen any reservists or enlisted service members but I have seen applications from officers on active duty and they have been well received)

I would be best to save any sciences with a lab component, particularly the prerequisites, for a brick-and-mortar college. That would include a year each of General Biology/with lab, General Chemistry/with lab, Physics/with lab, and Organic Chem/with lab.

also might want to think about not taking it from kaplan or other private on-line schools and stick with the university and cc on-line classes if possible

Thank you,
I just want to make sure I don't do anything to make my application less attractive when it comes to time.

You might also check to be sure that Kaplan University is an accredited university and that all the courses you plan to take are transferable to the four-year brick and mortar school. Knowing about this ahead of time can save needing to repeat coursework that isn't acceptable to the second institution which will confer your bachelors degree. Someone in the Admissions Office can help you by phone or e-mail.
