I applied this year and so far I have not received any acceptances, only wait lists. I scored a 21 on the DAT, so my guess is that my GPA is way too low to be competitive and receive acceptances. However, I am now in a dilemma because all the classes that I want to retake (organic 1 and biol 101) are all full/closed. The only classes that are open for those two classes are online classes. Would it look bad for me to retake these classes with an online class? Thanks in advance!

Are they a different course code? At my undergrad and grad schools, they were exactly the same.

What is your GPA? What was the rest of your application like--your volunteer hours, shadowing hours, EC's etc? Is there a waiting list for those classes so you can take them on campus? Do you need to retake the lab portion? Not sure how you do that online if you do.

Re taking courses is like running on a threadmill; it does not get you far from your starting point.

How about a different school or local CC? I would think that would look a little better.

@doc toothache - there could be any number of reasons for not doing well in the coursework the first time, life happens. Retaking them and demonstrating the ability to succeed in them would (in my opinion) show adcoms perseverance and determination. This would especially be the case as a reapplicant when asked "what have you done to improve your application?"
Running on that treadmill may not get you far from your starting point, but do it enough and you're going to look pretty darn good eventually!

are you suggesting not retaking classes then? how do I improve my gpa then?
Once you have 120 credit hours, it is difficult to improve gpa. The idea is to move on to more advanced courses and, hopefully you can make a statement.
