Oooh, that stinks. A friend of mine - her car was stolen this weekend and her insurance doesn't cover stolen cars. Terrible all around.

I'm not sure. She lives in DC, so she can still get to her job, but it creates a lot of other problems. Also, her roommate/best friend has started up a "Life Sucks But Katie Beaver Doesn't" Fund a la Its A Wonderful Life. It won't be much but hopefully she'll have something extra to help her get a down payment on a new (used) car.

Are those baby painted turtles? Too cute. I worked one summer with a biology professor catching various amphibians, but we also used to come across the baby painted turtles too. They tend to make a mass exodus out of the ponds once they get big enough (but still extremely small compared to the adults...its a wonder any of them survive out there).

They tend to make a mass exodus out of the ponds once they get big enough (but still extremely small compared to the adults...its a wonder any of them survive out there).

They're red-eared sliders...amazingly strong, too. They've managed to escape a couple of times by hoisting themselves out and they went awol for about a week with no food and water 0_o so I got them a new bowl.

He is a long-haired dachshund (standard size, not miniature).. He's only 13 months old and wont have the really long hair until he is two years old...
