Hello, I graduated in 2024 and had some mental issues that resulted in a severe downward trend. I had 4.0 at CC and in the first ~3-4 quarters at my 4 year uni, but by my last quarter I got a 1.9. Skipped every class, went into exams completely blind, etc. Just terrible. I ended with a 3.7 sGPA and 3.72 cGPA. Now I really feel I’ve worked on my issues and am a different person. I’m considering taking ~26-32 credits at a local public university (in person) over the next 1.5 years to reestablish a trend. I just wanted anyone to weigh in: I’m not crazy? Like, would doing well in this actually make a worthwhile difference? Idk

Welcome to the forums.

I don't have a sense of time in this description. How long ago was this 1.9 GPA quarter (since you say it was your "last year")? What were you taking? What is left to take for your planned 30 (semester) credits of postbac coursework (it would be 45 for quarter system courses).

Where are you with shadowing and clinical exposure? How about non-clinical community service?

I was in undegrad for Biochem at a quarter system school, so 10 weeks/quarter. Last quarter was spring 2024, 3 science courses (3rd biochem course, 2nd genetics course, immunology). I've completed all basic prereqs, so I'd be looking for courses like anatomy, cell biology, microbiology, any neurobiology, cancer biology, endocrinology, etc. I'd currently be planning to start DIY postbacc in early 2027, ramping up to full time until 2028 application.

Shadowing is 0 atm though I think I've found some soon. Paid clinical lots as a med tech (IK its controversial but its been VERY hands on with pts, handle all meds, accidents & 911 calls, wound care, contact with doctors and hospice, families, etc.) and less (currently employed) EMT. Roughly 3500 hours? Will be working patient care job through my app cycle.

Nonclinical volunteering is my main area I'm working on improving. Atm ~150 hours or less across tutoring and helping at a women's shelter. I'd estimate ~10 hours a week consistently from now until my app, tho hard to say considering other responsibilities.
