Valmont, Congratulations on your acceptances. I remember when I applied there I was thinking that I'd NEVER go to Iowa and that it was my bottom choice. Once I visited the school and met some people there I knew that it was the place for me.
I would say try not to worry too much about being far away from home, because no matter how close or far you are from home you probably won't get many opportunities to go home due to your class load. That's just my opinion, but I'm from AK so no matter where I go to school it's far away.
Lina, Jane, Prad, Rick, and JP what's going on? I'm hoping to get internet again so that I can keep up with your converstations. I feel like i'm so out of the loop. 🙂
I'm moving to des moines sometime at the end of July. And I'm going to look at apartments this weekend.

hey jenny,
good luck in the apartment hunting. There are a lot to choose from. Don't forget about West Des Moines, it's only about 5 miles from campus. Be a rebel like myself! Don't be a conformist like Prad and Jane and evryone else living close to school...hehehe just kidding guys....at least I'll have a few places to crash close to school!

well it's so funny because whenever I tell any of my friends or anybody else for that matter that i'm going to iowa i always get the "look" or the silent moment or the "obvious" jokes!! ... but you know what, what do they know anyways.. we all like it, so there must be something to that!! 😎
Valmont, like everybody else said already! go where you feel the most comfortable... I had to make a decision between CCOM and DMU!! lemme tell ya .. i went through a couple of weeks where i lost some serious sleep 🙁 ... people kept asking me why i was so miserable... but the thing was I had to be sure i was taking the "right" decision... and in the end i went with my "gut feeling" (even though at the time I hated people telling me that because i just wanted somebody to tell me one way or the other and take the burden off my shoulders) .... I guess what i'm trying to say go with your gut feeling!! 😀 seriously you will feel so much better when you make your decision and don't look back!!

Jenny! how are you? have a great time in DSM.. and be sure to check out the Hampton House.... seriously it's an awesome place, the people there are so nice and we can be neighbors!!! 😉

I'd like to give a shout out to my peeps Rick, Jane, Jenny, and Leb, JP and any body else I missed. How you all doing. I'm melting away in this central valley town called Los Banos. My parole hearing is in two weeks and then hopeing all goes well (that is I dont loose my tickets) I'll be in wonderfull Des Moines soon.

I know what you mean about a hard decision between DMU and CCOM. I really lost sleep with that decision. It was hard because I thought that CCOM would have been my first choice so after visiting it, it was hard for me to get that out of my mind. Then finally I realized that everytime that I thought about going to CCOM I would get really unhappy, but whenever I thought about DMU I was really excited. 🙂 Plus after reading the DMU 2007 thread how could you not want to come here.

DJ rajmahal is in the house, and there will definitely be some bangin' hip-hop and R&B at all times in my apartment, and I'll have a choice selection or two for any karaoke outing. My usual selections include Gin and Juice, Nothin' but a G-Thang, the humpty dance, you know the drill...

I was teased to no end at work about Iowa. The thing is, everbody (including me before I went there) has this mental picture of Iowa that defies all logic, even though Des Moines is the capital and a bustling place of business. 😛

yes I definetly made the right decision! i went through exactly what you did! .. well I guess you have to go through some tough times so you can appreciate what you have! 😀 (was that too philosophical?)
I still get grief about it! it just has to come up in every single conversation that i CHOSE to go to Iowa... doesn't seem to get old to my friends... i'm sure they'll get over it!

Gov. Arnold, doesnt sound that bad. I'd vote for him. I heard roumours that the he was going to run this last time but then the oppertunity to do T3 came up and he took that. Maby next time. Who know we might be able to get an election sooner because of that whole recall thing.
JP, I hope the test went well. I was reading about it on the boards, it seems like a lot of people are not happy.
On a side note I shipped my car to DSM today, it should be there by Sat or Sunday a week before I get there. Damn, it's getting real!!!!

I know what you mean! I just started getting stuff together to put into boxes today. I don't have as much stuff as I thought I did. Well, most of it I don't want to move, anyway. I can't wait to get there and unpack, and make my place livable. 2 wks baby!
