Just had my interview...phew, glad its over. But, ummm, I REALLYYYYY want to go here. THIS SCHOOL IS AMAAAAZIIIIING! AHHHH! A very serious congrats to those who got in!! 😀

by the way, doctorpurple - i am the one who at our interview day who asked if you were doctorpurple and who shared your very miserable experience with heels at the interview. did you make alternative footwear arrangements for your subsequent interviews? i wish i could but i think my heels are just too goodlooking to cast aside in the name of comfort. 🙄

It seems like DMU doesn't tend to ask ethics questions, which is good, but i'm afraid i'll get asked some at my interviews b/c they see that i took a bioethics class in grad school...eek!

First interview down! DMU was great and the interview was very relaxed. There aren't so much specific questions other than why DO and DMU. The rest was really just a discussion of your specific qualities.

It seems like DMU doesn't tend to ask ethics questions, which is good, but i'm afraid i'll get asked some at my interviews b/c they see that i took a bioethics class in grad school...eek!

I had a bioethicist on the panel that wrote my committee letter and received nothing of it. If you do, just state your opinion and back it up if asked. There's no right or wrong, more or less... 🙂

I'm just gonna throw this out there. Mikey and I are both a 10+ on the looks scale. I'll bet the ladies in the admissions office pushed our applications through just based on how we wowed them with our looks.

Also, we interviewed on the first day of interviews. It is likely that they have more of a back log in the dean's office now.

But you know, take which ever theory you like best.

Have fun. This is the type of school you want to go to because it's a good fit for YOU. I would feel like Sarah Palin at a green energy convention if I got in at DMU by acting the part.

By that I mean, I think the students their are comfortable with themselves and their goals. They don't seem to need reassurance that they did well because they beat out others, their reassurance comes not from the result but from knowing they are doing their personal best. For that reason a typical gunner shouldn't act laid back just to get in. After school starts their inner gunner would come out and they would have a hard time sociall and academically because their antics would not be looked at favorably by peers or academic staff.

At least that's my impression, both from my interview and from talking with DMU alumni.

P.S. For a few bonus points in the interview, be sure to tell them Onetyme sent you!

rocketman, that was sweet. future in OB/GYN? haha. I really liked the school too. interview was great, very little pressure. keeping my fingers crossed. how did everyone else's go? btw I think it's awesome that about half of our group is on SDN

just the emails telling you it starts at 830, interviews end by 330, and where to meet. but there are signs anyways

One week is enough to be prepared, especially if you have done your homework already, know why you want to go into medicine, why DO, etc. a lot of their interview is about you, your research and your accomplishments, all things you should feel comfortable talking about. I say go for it!

It is possible some people had 10/1 originally (when you were looking) but have now cancelled (already got accepted to their dream school) or put off until a later date. It's probably in your best interest to check every now and then if you want the earliest date.

Yeah biochem, you should do it 10/1 FOR SURE!! The earlier the better. Plus, if you wait a month you'll probably start to overthink it. Just relax and be yourself. Know your application and know why you want to be a dr! Good luck!

I don't think it's possible to have fun and relaxed in the same sentence that has interview...at least that's been my experience with any interview I've had be it a undergraduate schools, jobs, etc.

The overtones are fun and relaxed, but deep inside you contemplate every syllable and consonant that forms on your lips while you wonder what they will think of you.

I'm a compulsive e-mail checker anyway so it's not so much exhausting as it is suspense in waiting for that decision to come , but yeah I wanna know already!
