Great. I think it is a neat experience b/c you can say how the school evaluates itself and plans for improvement are laid out before us.

Rutgers? That is high school, right? 🙂

Hey DMU'ers, how is that re-accredidation going?

Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey.

Named after Henry Rutgers, the eigth college in the USA, on of the original colonial colleges w/ Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, Princeton...

But yes there is a Rutgers Prep school that is a high school.

Any more questions? :meanie:

Are they ever going to play a real team???

Is it just me or are the pre-pods a little disrespectful and presumptuous?

I agree.

especially one who a few weeks ago was all full of questions and now post things based on hearsay and what the colleges feed as the podiatry profession and lifestyle.

Hey DMU'ers,

One of your students gave us a visit the other day. He was talking about how DMU has some atheletic P2's and P3's who play B-Ball. Would you say that you guys and girls have a competitive team? I know that you will be playing on Scholl turf this year, how does DMU generally split up their P1's-P3's when it comes to playing other schools?

they play big east teams. the next big east games are Louisville and WVA.

the really good teams left the big east for the ACC.

I'm glad to see Rutgers is doing well. But I'm tired of ESPN kissing their stuffing and all of the Big East teams being crowned w/o playing a tough non-conference.

You should be glad Miami left. Those idiots shouldn't be allowed to play ball.

I'll be eager to see how they divide also. They've got some really good players but they are spread out not like the last few years where the talent was in 1 class. We've got a few players that where college ballers but stupidity will probably ruin the teams.

there are only about 6 teams in the country that are stil undefeated including rutgers.

I know they do not play such hard teams but my freshman year way back in 97 they lost every game and then in 98 they went 0-11. this was with hard and easy teams. so this season is pretty spectacular.

And Ray Rice has played amazingly except last game against Uconn he s_cked.

I might be finished talking about rutgers soon, we'll see? They were my glory days you know.

Most of it is just excitement. And they are always eager to defend their new school. But, for the most part, after you run the "gauntlet", you become pretty realistic about things.

I am aware of that. the realistic part anyway. I haven't seen them defend the new school yet, but the profession against the nay sayers. I do not want to repeat the post or name names. but one SDNer just drives me nuts.

Oh - and I must tell you Jon - Jax is trying to scr_w me. they are thrying to not give me credit for the month that I suffered thru down there. 👎

Agreed. I don't think that defending your college is bad but we never riped on upperclassmen before. I didn't get on SDN and say Sam is full of crap. I also never made disrespectful comments about cadavers. It goes back to us being old. When I was in high school I was tied to a pole, de-pants-ed, and had snowballs throw at me will the girls bball team left practice. That was what you got for being the only freshmen on the varsity wrestling team. Today, these brats would sue the school, coach and each person for hazing. We have create a disrespectful generation of whiners.

I agree. Sometimes, it is hard to figure out what some of these newbies are thinking. It's funny because as an upperclassmen (especially 4th year), you meet people from every program, including residents. It is not hard to see how you stack up against others that you are rotating with. I've met students/residents that have given their respective schools very poor reviews. It kind of makes things like "they didn't show me their cadaver lab when I interviewed" pretty irrelevant!

I am pretty passionate against the cadaver thing b/c of personal beliefs and conversations I've had w/ a faculty member in undergrad. It really taught me a lot about the body donation process. A family member donated her body also.

I also worry that disrespectful practices will affect the number of donations. This hurts med schools and patients b/c it affects organ donations and research.

Again my personal and in a way religious beliefs.

Thank you sir, May I please have another?

There was a mix up w/ the DMC address. Besides that everything is great.

I have not heard anything about this unless you are talking about the PPAC dinner.

No. Every year, DMU holds a Thanksgiving dinner.

They are having the dinner again this year, but it will be off campus this year. Student Services told me the info would be out on the portal later this week.

Well I just heard that it is official. The Lawns is no more! Dr. Halligan and Dr. Nelson are both headed to St Johns in Michigan to finish their residencies and Dr Tony is going to finish out the year here. I can't believe there will no longer be a podiatric residency in Des Moines, that sucks. Right now the word is that we will still be rotating out there and they will still accept clerks, but no more residency after this year. I guess the silver lining is that as third years we should get a whole lot more responsibility out there now.

Why did Broadlawns close?

That was out of the blue. I had no idea it was shutting down. I am pretty glad though that we still get to rotate there. There will be a lot to do. So are they going to hire more attendings because the clinic is still crazy.

I am not really sure who will be the attending during clinic. I am out there now so I will keep you posted if I find anything out. All I have heard right now is mostly rumors as to exactly why things happened so I think I will wait until I now for sure what's going on before I say anything else.

The last four months of my schooling just got interesting.

Man, with that patient load, they are going to need quite a few attendings! And what exactly is the point of accepting clerks if you do not have a residency program?

that was a good game
