After the Grammy's, I won't watch another awards show. I'm tired of everything anti-american winning b/c it is "art." You've got plenty of people putting out good music and they give the award to the Dixie Chicks who I didn't even know put out a CD. Maybe the 12 people who bought it enjoyed it but I'm sure it was a all remakes again.
 
I hate it when hollywood elitists and musicians decide that they need to ramble on and on about politics, when in reality there isn't anyone more detacted with reality than them. I didn't pay $100 for a concert ticket to hear you whine about how much you hate Bush.
 
I dont mind hollywood/music cats that have strong political views (nauseating they may be.)

I think many lack the stones to engage in a debate. They enjoy one line cliches in front of an already sold audience (which they are entitled to do of course).

For me to respect a Hollywood'ers voice in the political process they need to engage someone from the "other side" in an honest political debate.

For example, John Cougar Mellencamp was on the Charlie Rose show and made an absolute clown of himself. He couldnt use lines that had always worked when he addressed a half-soused nightclub. He had to be intellectually accountable for his statements.

Here is a summary (paraphrased):

After condemning the Iraq War and Afghanistan wars, Charlie Rose asked him if he is a pacifist.

John CM responded that he is not a pacifist, sometimes military intervention is necessary.

Charlie Rose: Like when?

JCM: I dont know.

Charlie Rose: How about after Pearl Harbor?

JCM: I dont have enough information.

CR: You know what Pearl Harbor was?

JCM: Yes, I just dont have enough information.

You see behind a "mic" he can say "I am not a pacifist; but these wars are unjust." Perhaps they are, however, you have to be willing to sight reasons for statements. Hollywood'ers rarely have to do that.

Additionally, I dont reckon people who criticize the USA, evenly fanatically, are actually "anti-american".

Amen brother. Keep in mind that there are actually intelligent people in Hollywood but you never hear from them. They usually keep their mouth shut because they are smart enough to realize that nobody cares what they think!!! :laugh:

I must say, the super geniuses are now sitting back in about row 7 or 8, the 3rd row geniuses have moved onto clinic and the 3rd row is now full of those d*mn gunners that raise their hands and ask questions that most of the Prof's don't know the answer too. But 7th row is holding it's own, I can attest to this.
 
Peptostreptococcus is not the only thing you have to worry about at Summerfields. And on top of it, it is over priced.

Discusdan, The match happens and is finalized tomorrow but we won't find out until Tuesday morning.

Krab, I think my class will do fine. A fair amount already know where they are going. But there are also quite a few that have everything riding on one or two programs and the programs only take one. So if they don't get it, it is scramble time. Statistically at DMU, 80% of the students get their first choice and another 10% get their second. Hopefully, that will hold true.
 
Now that the match is over and I'm an official DMC'er, I'm just waiting on those board results. Were things pretty crazy in the tower on Tuesday with the match going on?
 
Actually there wasn't much talk about it. I can't wait to hear where those to had to scramble are headed though.

Yeah so what is the history behind you and the "BK Lady"? It looked like you two were a little too close for comfort. Im not sure that I can hold the torch after you leave.

Tell your kid that he can have that cow. I think it was the first time that I had seen it so I know my kids dont play with it.

By the way, PBL test went good. Surgeries on Friday were awesome.
 
9lbs 5oz, 20.5 inches baby boy was born 3/28 at 7:29 PM. Mom and baby are doing great. 😀

Once again, I was reminded that OB-Gyn is not for me! :laugh:

Speaking of Brazilians, how about the "Brazilian Blur" (Leandro Barbosa) in the Phoenix Suns' win over Dallas Mavericks yesterday? Who would have thought that a brazilian could play basketball.

Defboy, your dang Razorbacks stole the best coach in Nebraska basketball history. I hope the team and coach get an horrible case of incurable tinea pedis. I hope things go bad for Dana Altman just b/c who leaves a school where you are a good. You don't see Coach K leaving to go to a higher paying job. Only Rick Paterno is dumb enough to do that.
 
Coach K is also at Duke though. There is a difference in the basketball world between Creighton and Duke.

If you look at the history of Duke basketball, it is not that different than Creighton (http://www.dukeupdate.com/yearbyyear.html versus http://www.gocreighton.com/library/documents/07mbbmg122-143.pdf. They had some success before Coach K but it was not consistent, which is true for Creighton. While yes they plan in the ACC, they are both private institutions.

Have ever looked at the coaches from CU history? The most famous of the them would be Eddie Sutton.

Coach K built the program at Duke, and that is what Dana Altman was doing. They both would never be fired and they have been well compensated.
